Dearest 2016, you are not over yet but you are still kicking butt and taking names! I love you!

Not only did I get my No.1 movie of all time in Ahgassi/The Handmaiden this year, but I also got my 2^nd favourite non-yuri movie in BvS (with TDK being no.1 on that list and 2 on the complete yuri + non-yuri list). And along with these winners, 2016 also tried in other areas including some projects that failed to deliver in the end but took me along the ride, an enjoyable ride in TV shows like ‘Come Back Mister’, Supergirl S1 (I know S2 is actually gay but you know what they say about the first time), Age of Youth, W-Earp, and Pommanatur – that Thai show that had so much potential but got cold feet and probably why it lost traction at only episode 10. I will be taking about that again…!

But what of the Music (video0 side of things you might ask? Well, that is where this post comes in. Yesterday ‘SISTAR’ released a new MV for their song ‘One More Day’ and for the life of me I cannot stop comparing it to ‘aBandOned’. Killing Dude for safety? Check! Thigh Straddling? Check. Car scene? Check! Shoulder leaning? Check! HANDS?! Check!!!! Timeline games? Check! Sharing Ear/headphones? Check! Super Make-out sessions? Er…Blood? Um…Deep Lyrics?…Song Shuffle Value?…Alright, alright! This is no abandoned but that is not fare really. Abandoned is the top of the top MVs that all who think they are good should be judged against so it is inevitable that ‘One More Day’ should have lost!

But it does tick off most of the boxes and that makes it one of the best. It doesn’t have blood (I am a horror freak, okay?) but the Dude did take a brick and two bottles to the head and also got set on fire in a suit-case left in the boot of his car (with his body probably cut into tiny pieces) but it was still Disney level of horror and requires someone with huge imagination to appreciate the horrific details! This is a huge pus in my book which makes this MV already one of my favs.

Then there is that Kannazuki formula as well. And by that I mean where the girl wins the girl over the boy! Those are so very rare and why I think Kannazuki is most people’s favourite yuri anime. You would be hard pressed to find a yuri couple that had to fight through a terrible threesome and came out winning! Seriously, can you just imagine Tomoyo winning Sakura’s heart over Li?! That couple would have made history. But then again, since Tomoyo was more of a loving someone from a distance and never actually confessed for real, yes, I am aware that she most certainly did say she loves Sakura multiple times but she never made it a point to let Sakura know what exactly she meant. I guess you could say that she kind of did not deserve Sakura’s love because she did not have enough confidence in her by thinking that Sakura wouldn’t understand her love.

Anyway, our SISTAR was more of a Chikane, because she was not afraid to show her affection for her love and even knowing that there was a guy out there still involved, she did not shy away from getting some action from her love. Okay, she did not go so far as raping her love but a brick and a bottle to the head totally equals an arrow to the chest that Souma took from Chikane! Also the fact that her love also had feelings for her just like Himeko had feelings for Chikane, minus the support of a previous life and fate on their side, well, what is not to love about ‘One More Day’ and their take on love wars!

I am still waiting for the lyrics to hit for me to appreciate the song more but I already know that it is not one I will be adding to my mobile playlist. For foreign songs, the song better have a great emotional impact for it to survive the playlist or it best have a good rhythm going that makes you want to break out in a groove otherwise…The lyrics will help on the first one but the second one is not there for me so I can’t say it is one of my favourite songs. Maybe it will grow on me though. I mean I am going to be re-watching this MV a lot so it might happen!

One thing I did not like though was the generic Dude is evil setting! I mean I know this is Korea and they are the most dramatic country (when it comes to media at least) ever but still. The guy was just so on the nose but even then, the actions the girls took were also too much! They certainly did not need to kill him or burn his body. There is no way they are getting away with that crime! And them walking away all satisfied with themselves did not settle well with me either. That is what was different from aBandOned. In that MV the girls killing the Dude was shown to be a real big mess. They felt the impact of it afterwards thus putting the humanity in them.

Heh, this contrast almost reminds me of the DCEU/Marvel thingy.

Anyway…thank you very much for thinking of me and sharing info about this MV dearest Mischa June, but after endless posts about it on my twitter and Tumblr timeline and seeing that I am a 1theK subscriber, I had already watched it actually. But please, do not hesitate to share more info in the future. Almost 3/10 times I have not known of something shared so please, do keep an eye out. But so you know, it is your comment that got me to write about this first. It was supposed to go up tomorrow.
