I see Wednesday as a prologue of the inevitable romance between Wednesday and Ined!

They met, they clashed but, in the end, they found their groove. They experimented with love but that didn’t go so smoothly for them and their Guys.

Story wise too, just having Hyde as the villain was kind of lack lasting, now that I think about it. Sure, in the end we got to three villains, but it was mainly Hyde from the very beginning.

Back to the relationship, the way I see it is that Wednesday and Ined experimented in the first season with the boys and things didn’t go as smoothly as they probably thought. Now that that is out of the way, the two can finally focus on their established relationship! Established, because come on, Ined made the biggest impact on Wednesday throughout the show.

Wednesday was indifferent to everyone even including Ined but when they showed their displeasure at her consistent behavior, she was only affected by Ined’s throwback, to the point of being emo! Like, really emo, ORZ levels of emo! She was literally sitting in the dark, clutching her knees to her chest levels of emo!

It was ridiculous!

Even though Wednesday had a crush on Dick 2, let’s be honest, she showed the same range of emotions as she did with everyone else. It was only with Ined when she showed a range of emotions. And do not get me started on the hug!

Speaking of that hug, did anyone else see Ined hug anyone else? Sure, we all took for granted that she was a very affection person, but we did not see her being that touchy with anyone other than Wednesday! This one is a personal observation, but I found Ined quite intolerable when she was with other people. I found her quite pushy but when she was with Wednesday, she was very conscious of her feelings.

In other words, both Ined and Wednesday affected each other in terms emotionally. In Inde’s case, she was also physically affected, because let’s be honest, bloody moons happen yearly and as I can see some already arguing that it was because of that, I am confident that transformations, well, Ined’s at the very least, was emotionally motivated. Her feelings to save Wednesday contributed to her finally being able to transform.

I think these changes include the time that she spent with Wednesday up to that point and thus the emotional changes she went through because of Wednesday, in combination with the feelings of needing to protect Wednesday on that fateful day.

Then there came the hug itself! Like, Ined literally did not see anyone but Wednesday in that moment. The whole school was gathered there but she only searched out one person. Heck, even Wednesday herself forgot about everyone else and she only saw Ined.

Then came the hug!

Those two being that affectionate in front of everyone was the most inconspicuous declaration of belonging to one another I have ever seen! They basically put a claim on each other telling everyone to back the hell off! At the very least, they got the message where Wednesday is concerned!

There is also a small line to note, way back in the first episode. Wednesday is at one of the festival stands planning her escape and when Dick 1 comes to her and she says she is meeting someone, Dick 1 asks; So, who is the lucky boy…or girl?

Like, that was a choice! Someone chose to write that! Sure, it could have been a safety line, but this is not fanfiction. Script lines cost money so it had to be weighed and then it was decided that they would leave it in! I mean, it might be the longest seed ever planted to bear fruit, but I was watching this show with a microscope!

Speaking of watching the show, I did watch it the night it landed but I had to wait because I needed time to gather my thoughts! Due to the liars on the interwebs, I couldn’t help but set my expectations a bit too high. As such, you can imagine my disappointment! That is why I waited so that I could watch it again on my own terms. I did that and found that I loved the series even more!

Had I written this post back then, I most definitely would not have thought of season one as a prelude for their relationship! They have done their experimentation and now they are ready to take their relationship to the next level, having found that they feel more for one another than with the boys they experimented with in season one!

Now that Wednesday has allowed herself to be physical with someone, I wonder what boundaries Ined will step over in the coming season for Wednesday! We have seen that she is quite devious, the way she played Snake-Dude into asking her out! I am sure she will use the same tactics on Wednesday, especially given that Wednesday is almost like Snake-boy in being oblivious to feelings.

The hug aside, these two had other personal moments as well. The emotional talk, literally in the first episode where Ined revealed she could not transform. The moment when Ined came back to the dorm after their fight and Wednesday was like; Thing missed you and Ined was like; I missed Thing too! We all knew they were talking about Wednesday instead of Thing. What surprised me was the fact that Ined understood it right away, as to what Wednesday actually meant!

Not that it needed to be said, Wednesday was being all emo as I mentioned and Ined tried to find all kinds of excuses to come back to the dorm.

Apart from the beginning on Wednesday and Ined’s relationship, I loved this show because I love everything Wednesday stands for! I also love horror fantasy stories! I love beautiful presentations and Wednesday is one such presentation! I mean, it is no surprise given that the director is the only and only Tim Burton! Seriously, the series looks like a damn movie and far removed from typical Netflix projects that have this tinted greenish overlay!

The one thing that I was not impressed by as I mention is the story, which seemed too shallow, given the eight-episode runtime! The story crawled around the middle and then towards the end things just went by too fast! The big bad literally showed up for like minutes!

But I am usually not bothered by stories like most people are! I just notice when I get bored re-watching something and I fast-forward through things!

Another small disappointment was Ined’s wolf form! Like, come on, that’s the best they could do? I will just choke it up to it being disappointing because it was her first transformation and thus still a young wolf, which will grow into something much better!

Everything else about the show was great! I understand the rave people are having about the show! They probably don’t know it, but I think it’s Ined and Wednesday’s relationship that makes this show so lovable, most are just oblivious to it!

Something a bit unrelated but having watched TOTALLY COMPLETELY FINE right before re-watching Wednesday, and then seeing Ined’s wonderous eyes right after falling in deep within Vivian’s, I was convinced that the Lord was out to tempt me or test my eye fetish!

Seriously, going from Thomasin McKenzie’s mesmerizing eyes and straight into Emma Meyers’ equally as captivating ones is a call for a straight ticket to hell, because I totally failed all these tests and temptations!

Anyhow, I can’t wait for the second season, which is already greenlit! The writers did say that Ined and Wednesday’s relationship was open for any direction so here is to be hoping that they do something about it and don’t cave into pressure, given that the show is very popular, and they might be afraid to go off course!

Wednesday is on Netflix, so if you haven’t yet, check it out! At the very least season 1 has some thick subtext!
