GAINAX? Who are yo-…Oh! You mean GAYNAX!

Yes, YES! I’m back and totally feeling like I am 16 again! Might have something to do with the fact that I just bribed the Devil to get out of hell and I am feeling as fresh as a new born!

Yes, some awesome Foo went and leaked the BvS trailer on Friday just after I had written that post! It was so instant and so unexpected that my poor heart couldn’t handle it! And I had major plans for this weekend too. Just looked into my journal to remind myself what I had planned, you know memory loss due to death! But for some strange reason the last entry was last week! Weird!

Oh well, now what I am doing is going through my CAPs folder and just picking out caps of videos I have not blogged about yet and this anime, Houkago no Pleiades, was on top of the list (sorted by Date Modified of course). And so I decided to do that one first. I also was surprised by how many things I have yet to blog about! There is like a month’s worth of posts from my CAPs folder, if I post 10 posts a week that is. Sadly can’t be that active due to college but summer is almost here (Then again I will be working full time then too so…Ah~ah).

Back to the anime at hand though, All I have to say is ‘thank you GAYNAX’! Seriously, I loved those short OVA eps from way back then about this project and even though there is a cloud in my memories which tells me that something not so nice happened, there is no doubt that Aoi (Blue haired) and Subaru (Pinku) had a great deal of moments in those four short OVAs. Well dear Reader, GAYNAX did not disappoint! In fact the gaeness (gay moe) seemed more solid that I remember. Though that might have something to do with the fact that it’s been a while since I last watched the OVAs. Also there is more I forgot like Aoi and Subaru’s situation! I didn’t remember them being on the same terms their first meeting in the OVAs, did they change the plot or did I forget a huge deal? Probably forgot.

This kind of surprised me in the beginning when Subaru on her way to school catches glimpse of Aoi across the road walking with another girl. Instead of calling out to her, Subaru instead had on this solemn look and only whispered Aoi’s longingly. As the memories I have of them from the OVAs are their closeness, this got me confused. I was wondering what happened between them to put them at such odds! Thank fully the show doesn’t spend ten episodes playing the emo game and this gets explained in the very first episode, thank the Lord! You hear that Hibike? Stop dragging your feet and get to the damn point! All happenings of the first two, nay, three episodes should have been condensed into the first episode! All I have gotten from the first two episodes of Hibike is that Himiko has joined the music club, which we all knew would happen anyway and that she and Reina have a history! That’s it! Two episodes wasted on these 1 and a quarter info! Bleh.

But this isn’t about Hibike, this is about Pleiades and we find out that the reason of their strange behaviour is that, well actually this is kind of complicated. You see, the Magical World that Subaru gets pulled into is a different world from the one we see in the beginning where she and Aoi aren’t talking. The Magical World is Aoi’s World and both of those worlds have, or had both Aoi and Subaru. Since Subaru is now in Aoi’s World, can’t say that that world still has a Subaru. In Aoi’s (magical World). Okay, let’s slow down a bit and start over again.

The Magical World is neither of the five girls’ worlds. They were all pulled into this Magical World by an alien to help it located parts of an engine that belongs to its mother-ship that got into an accident. These fragments are in shapes of stars floating in our atmosphere. The girls are to find the missing pieces and help the alien to repair its ship so it could go back home.

So, this world is different from both Subaru and Aoi’s worlds, so is the same for the other girls. But in both Subaru and Aoi’s worlds, they were not together by the beginning of this story. It seems that in Aoi’s world, Subaru transferred school without saying anything to Aoi, and so it was in Subaru’s World. When they meet in the Magical World, the finally have a talk when Subaru wonders why Aoi is back. She says that she though Aoi left because she hated her but then Aoi argues saying that it was Subaru that had left her.

Seems these two are from different dimensions and as such, they are actually strangers to one another but each other is 100% the same as the girl they both knew. Aoi still knows Subaru’s favourites foods, Subaru still is familiar with Aoi’s characteristics so they aren’t that different, even if they are not the actual people that each other knows. I can’t wait to see how this plays into the whole story. Will their time in the Magical World perhaps give Subaru and Aoi the courage to go and confront their real friends in their own worlds? Seems like normal magical girl formula to me.

But anyway, these two are progressing so fast for two complete strangers, even though they technically aren’t strangers, going from tears of depression, to trusty hand holding then to promises! This ship is most delicious indeed. But there is still that cloud I talked about from the OVAs and it is still here. You see there is this boy/girl, seriously, can’t tell if it’s a boy or a girl! And though you may think that transforming would make the choice easier, in fact it makes it even harder to tell.

This ambiguous person is kind of like the villain, for now, and Subaru is very close to their human form. Kind of the opposite of their transformed form. You see this person is like the girls’ rival in collecting these shooting stars and has placed Subaru in enough danger already and it’s only episode 2! There is no need for me to say that they are on Aoi’s hit list, right?

Crud, the more I think of that person the more my memories are starting to surface from the OVAs. I hope they change something about that ending from the OVAs. I just remembered that I did not like it very much. I can’t remember the exact details but I just had a nausea! That can’t be a good sign!

And man oh man the gaemoe – All the hand holding! All the blushing! All the skin ship! ALL THE HAND HOLDING!!!!! Aahhhhhhh
