Sorry, I kid, the real title for this kind of unique Spanish series is RAISING VOICES in English or NI UNA MÁS in Spanish. I say kind of unique, because while it touches on a subject that has been spoken on a lot, the subject of rape and the effect it has on the victims and those around them, the series ventures on that line of whether it happened or not!

I have to say that especially in the case of our protagonist Alma (played by actor Nicole Wallace, best known to us as Nora from the Spanish SKAM series) and her story, I felt cheated when they spend all this mystery surrounding her disappearance and what might have happened, only for it to turn out that she went willingly and even willingly agreed to have sex with the Dude!

Yes, sure she was under influence and a very well educated and wise guy might have turned her down given the circumstances, but they were high schoolers, after a party of drinking so first of all both were not in their right minds and second did I mention they were high schoolers? Do you remember the amount of hormones we had at that time!?! Imagine a high school guy turning down a girl’s advances, ha!

Anyway, that went nowhere and so they had to rely on supporting characters’ trauma and real events to move the story along in a valid way and while I was happy that justice was partially served with the teacher, what about those frikkin jorks?! They were about to rape a girl and only the arrival of the police stopped them from what they were going to do! Not only did they not have a step back and look at their lives after that brush with the law, but they were dicks up to the very end and except for one of them, whose justice was off screen and in the future that we never saw, they went off without anything!

This series could have done more, we have already had stories about giving the victims voice but what about the prevention?! There should have been a message in that regard, and we had the perfect subjects to send that message with but alas!

Anyway, we are not here to talk about that!

What we are all interested in now is the title of this post, am I right? So, what do I mean by friends with benefits? Well, you see Alma has a few close friends but one of them has triple question marks on either side of the words best friend! Her name is Greta, and you will know her from the second season of The Boarding School series, which I am sure I have not covered because I am to this day team Freckles but just so you all know if you are interested that our girl Adele got herself two more girlfriends after Rita (Freckles), one per new season!

Clara Galle, the actor who plays Greta here, played the second girlfriend in The Boarding School! And girl, if you watched it, you totally remember those kisses and she brought that groove back with Greta in Raising voices because damn!

Like, seriously, I am 100% confident that Alma has yet to find a better kisser than Greta, no matter how many jokes she makes where she keeps ranking Greta’s kisses, pfft, as if she has a lot of experience outside Greta!

The first time we see them kiss in the show, we get this nice flashback of their kisses going way back and like, I don’t know about you all but if I had a friend that I was kissing like that, there is no way emotions would not be involved!

This is another reason why I say this is kind of a unique series because I must give them credit for sticking it out as friends despite all that kissing! Like, no sane person would not get attached with those types of kisses, let alone the number of kisses!

The best of them all was the kiss during the eventful night while they were at Greta’s brother’s part. You see Alma has had a crush on Greta’s brother for a long time and to give her a push, Greta produces some ecstasy pill to help calm Alma’s nerves and give her some confidence.

Do you remember the scene in Sharp Objects where Amma gave one to Camille through mouth to mouth? Well, take that and multiply it by 10 in terms on intensity! Girl wanted Alma to swallow her tongue, I am sure of it! And Alma did not disappoint, the way she dived right in!!!

God!

Also, also, another thing that I noticed was that it was always Greta pulling away first instead of Alma! What’s so strange about this you ask? Well, there are scenes were it’s obvious that Greta has more than friendly feelings towards Alma, despite Alma always giving off straight vibes. So, in this sense, you would think that it would be Alma pulling away first before things got awkward, right?

With that, let’s get one thing out of the way. These two do not end up together. In fact, Alma all but leaves town at the end of the series, though only for three months and without of course, giving Greta one of them kisses!

Greta is very gay and depending at how you look at things, in the end she had a girlfriend, though she was like twice her age, but I don’t judge! This girlfriend was a cop, who helped them get justice on the teacher and if Greta could love her as she was, a cancer survivor, with scars to show for it that probably made it impossible for her to find someone who would accept her until Greta came along.

Greta and Alma don’t talk about her though, even when Greta was saying how lonely she would be without Alma. I for sure thought she would bring the girlfriend up but she did not!

And also, the brother left to go on some worldwide travel so he is out of the picture and him, they did talk about and Alma made is known that what she said she meant, about Greta’s brother being just a lay without emotions being involved.

So, with that, if Alma is ever to return, and given that it would have been a long time without Greta getting her kisses, there is bound to be new emotions coming in! If Greta and her girlfriend are still together and yet Alma has no one, I can totally feel the jealous creeping in when Greta spends less time with her.

But that’s just speculation.

From what we got, I have to say I don’t believe it for one second that there were no deeper feelings between the two than just friendship! Heck, there is this time in their past where Greta had to change schools because her family could not afford their school anymore and they were bawling their eyes out like one was moving to another country or something!

But just from the way they were kissing and the frequency of kissing, that’s just a no way hose, I am not buying it!

And the final reason why the series in kind of unique, it’s the rawness! God, the series so raw! I swear, I half expected Alma and Greta to do far more than just kissing and I have a feeling that were there to be a second season, we are so going to get more than just kissing!

Greta likes to keep up with her brother and as she said, Alma can always try with the other members of the family (talking about herself of course) if her brother does not cut it and seeing that Alma did sleep with him and got away without feelings, why not try the other member of the family?

I mean, the final kiss’ rating was that it made Alma’s hair rise on ends, her pussy hair!

I did not make that line up! She really said that!

Basically, next stop is graduating from kissing and moving on the real deal!

Fuck, is the second season announced yet? I mean, Spain is good at sequels and the two girls are well knowns for multi season series so…
