BLUE MY MIND

Yes! I have been waiting for this movie and frankly I did not think that I would get to see it any time this year but here we are! So, a very big thank you to Amazon for making this possible! And best yet, with Amazon you know there is going to be subtitles and the best in the business you can hope for outside of official DVD/Blu-ray subtitles! So, a toast to you Amazon!

Book-cover impressions I had of BLUE MY MIND was that it would be in lines of those really weird coming of age French mind-bending, BAD-ENDing and depressing types of movies. You know, like Martyrs, Water Lilies, RAW and all that! This movie obviously does have some of the elements in the mentioned movies like the other-worldly/fantastical elements, young leads (coming of age, duh), really moody and girls’ love (the reason we are here of course)!

That being said, there are some things that make you know that yeah, this is no France! Sure it does have some bile-inducing scenes but not on the level of French perfection! Actually, that is the most, if not, the only bad thing about this movie – It is afraid! You dear readers can condense it down to bad editing, well, okay, I think there is some bad editing choices in here too, but there are quite a few scenes that you can feel are going into a certain direction but then they suddenly cut them and on to different scenes! This happened quite a few times it drove me mad to tell the truth!

But these negatives are almost over-shadowed by what I got from the movie overall! I absolutely am in love with Mia and Gianna (Our main girls)! They were so cute together and their development was one that I have not seen before! Also for a change the fantastical elements were not in as euphemism for something but they were actually real! Yeah sure there was the adolescence issue at play with our main lead Mia but it was ‘real’! They were both real, not one being a representation of the other!

 

And really, the girls that play Mia (Luna Wedler) and Gianna (Zoë Pastelle Holthuizen) are so beautiful that you just have to pause at some scenes just to take their beauty in! Especially Mia! Seriously, I am still having dreams about her eyes! And that beauty I think was needed because of the character she was playing! She needed to be that enchanting! Interestingly, and a great choice, only one female recognised and was allured by her beauty while all other males were instantly enchanted! I have theories about this fact and it plays into how unique Mia and Gianna’s relationship is!

Luna and Zoe were in another movie together before this, but I haven’t watched it yet. It is titled Amateur Teens that came out in 2015. Yeah, good luck finding it without digging up some peculiar results.

So anyway, as the unusual person that I am, we are going to approach the movie in scenes/moments that grabbed my attention, after a brief summary of the overall story! So then, let’s get this thing started… Continue reading →
