I am tired of the backwards conversation, as this is stuff that we expect from a show released 20 years ago!
Now, I usually wouldn’t care and would be having a sugarsm about how cute Sol and Ji-wan are but when the other couples in the series are making out like this was a R15 rated romantic drama whereas your gay ship, the most they do is hold hands and back-hug, that does rub me the wrong way! Like, not even a kiss!?! From Ji-wan/! Get out of here!!!
And now you know why I have not written about this yet despite lots of messages about it!
Sure Sol and Ji-wan are cute but this is 2022 FFS!

It might not be as much as you wanted but it was a big step for South Korea. The fact that it was received positively by the korean audience and not protested and boycotted shows some change. I think you should look at this couple optimistically considering the country of origin

The way I had the exact same thought lol. If they were the only couple, sure they were cute. But god, this show had so many unnecessary make out, pillow talk, undressed scenes of the toxic main couple (and the other het side couple) that it just made me not get the hype for soljiwan at all. That’s just it. They were just platonic in a show that spent a lot of time integrating sex in its story. Also I watched this show with my sister by the time it was airing and ofc i knew we were just gonna get the crumbs but lol, at least my sister seemed to enjoy my ramblings and hate talk of all the toxic het stuff that happened there (which is like the entirety of the series).

Like, it’s not that all (gay) couples should kiss or be sexual. Heck, Futari Monologue is one of my most fave sapphic shows of all time and Hinata and Mikage haven’t even gotten together in the adaptation but they were so cute and lovable aaaaaaaaaa. Same with Claudine x Maya and Futaba x Kaoruko (and also Junna x Nana) in Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight. And Kyoko and Ayaka in Re:Mind. A lot of couples do great without having to physically show their affection with each other especially in the context that the show is not focusing on that. But in shows like this, where you could see the massive difference with how they treat the het couples and the queer couples in terms of sexuality and expression, it’s like they’re rubbing it in my face.
