Scarlett & Ruby
Damn, what a time to be alive, as a horror fan!
On the other side in the movie genre we have the Feat Street Trilogy with a lesbian lead! Meanwhile over here we have another of those imfamous series (American Horror Story) and the first two episodes are already bangers with, yes, you guessed it, a lesbian main character who not only gets to murder some fools she gets to makeout with two girlfriends! In just two episodes!
Now that’s what a call a winner!
This series seems to be very loosely connected to the main series and seeing as they are calling it S01 means that this is a whole new thing but seeing there is already old cast here, I have a feeling we will be seeing more of them in future episodes and stories and the house featured in this first story should be familiar to those who watched the main series!
The main story is that Scarlett and her two Dads move into a new home, which turns out to be haunted according to rumours but those rumours turn out true when deaths, possessions, ghost and all kinds of badness starts to happen! As the tile says, Scarlett comes across a rubber suit that seems to over-take her with a spirit when she wears it and while the concept was excellent I think they under-utilised it!
Unfortunately, though I guess anyone could have seen it coming, Maya the first girlfriend turned out to be a Bitch despite her mesmerising perfect eyes (damn those eyes!) and was fooling around with Scarlett’s feelings all this time! She and her friends of course turn out to be her Rubber self first victims when she calls them over to her house and proceeds to murder their asses!
I didn’t miss her, even if I was actually smitten with her from the get go!
And really, it’s not like she’s gone. You see when you die in this house, you never get to leave! You spirit stays trapped in the house but the bonus is that it’s almost like you are still alive when in the house. Thus the ghosts in the house can physically touch people and when it comes Halloween, the only day they can leave the house, they get to do all kinds of bad they want!
One of these ghost, many a ghost in that house, is Ruby, Scarlett’s love! Yep, she is in love with a ghost but like I said, they can get physical with people so really, other than being bound to one place, they are like normal people! Well, normal insane people!
Ruby is the one that killed her Dads because she did not want her to leave and spent most of her time trying to convince Scarlett to kill herself so they could be together forever! But of course like sane main characters, she chose to live and while I was scared that Ruby would betray her and kill her to prevent her from leaving, the show surprised me by actually making their feelings real and having Ruby overcome her possessiveness and letting Scarlett leave the house!
But in doing so she actually made the right decision because their relationship kept on going as Scarlett always came by to visit, when she takes a break from killing spree as the rubber (wo)man!
The series production is of course spectacular as expected from the runners (again, if you watched the main series). It’s great horror content and our characters are incredibly likeable. Seriously, even as she is I still like Maya!
Anyway, total must watch!
