It’s Happening!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAS!
Well, it ‘happened’ as these videos are like more than a month old and I am just late to write about it because I was in a sort of a slump as a Yukirin Fan but you know what I mean!
To anyone who does not know, Yukirin (Kashiwagi Yuki) was diagnosed with Spinal Tumour in May and last month she went to Taiwan to get surgery, which was a success as we were told and currently she is in rehabilitation. As one might guess, getting your spine cut up, be the means or the actual surgery, one is sure to have difficulty with motar functions so Yukirin has to go through therapy!
We are not sure if she is back in Tokyo yet but they assured us she is okay so we will just have to pray as we wait for her public return.
But this predicament couldn’t have happened at a not so good time! She not only learned of the news right before the two AKB48 concerts that were so important, meaning that she still performed with a smile those two days without anyone but her family knowing, but she was also in the middle of production of the WACK upcoming singles from all their groups, which Yukirin would be a part of! And in addition, the newly announced AKB48 Solo Single was probably also beginning production.
Though we are not sure of the AKB48 side, WACK paused the production and supported Yukirin in her decision to get surgery as soon as possible instead of locking her into work until it was finished. Hopefully AKB48 too paused that single production as well because Yukirin missing from this AKB only single that hasn’t happened in 10 years would really not be cool. But I would understand if they went ahead without her. Girls get sick all the time and miss singles so…
Anyway, back on the subject at hand, we got two videos of just Yukirin and BiSH’s Aina The End End having a heart-to-heart talk! It was actually more serious that I was expecting but seeing as Yukirin decided to exchange into WACK to pump some new life into herself, I guess I have to get used to seeing a different Yukirin!
It was interesting seeing their different perspectives and their motivations and where they want to head in the future and of course they totally melted the hearts of us Fans! The first topic was motivation and or Fans. And Fans because to Yukirin those two things go hand in hand! She says that currently she is motivated by her fans and that were the Fans to disappear, she would then quit because to her, now she is currently not living just for herself!
Like, talk about a true heart of an AKB Idol. Fans are like their life’s blood and to know that Yukirin really thinks of us so deeply, like, how to not Love her!? Even Aina couldn’t resist clapping as she declared Yukirin a ‘Perfect Girl’!
Meanwhile on the subject of Fans, Aina was on the other side of the coin! To her she doesn’t care for Fans that much! She loves making music for herself and she says she also prefers to have even one person that truly loves her instead of a lot of Fans! Aina being Aina she even throws in how serious she means that when she gives an example of someone that would still stand by her even if she committed murder!
Yeah people, WACK is that type of company, what did you expect!
And with that we get into our first ‘cute moment‘ between the two!
So, in their introduction they both decide on how to refer to one another and they settle on Yukirin calling Aina – Aina-kun, and Aina calling Yukirin – Yuki-chan. But then get this, during this serious conversation they are having Yukirin refers to Aina as she requested by calling Aina-kun but then Aina got super embarrassed about it and they had a laugh to cut the atmosphere!
But even still, Aina, you wanted to be called Aina so what’s the deal in getting all shy-shy about it!? I mean, it was cute and totally ammunition for people like yours truly but still…
They then went on to talk about their fellow producers, in Yukirin’s case – Akimoto Yasushi, and in Aina’s case Watanabe Junnosuke. They are asked to talk about one thing their producers told them that they will never forget but sadly my Japanese failed me here a bit but from what I understood the advice that Yasusu gave Yukirin was meant for her young self not the current one but it had to do with respecting the Elders and being profession or something. Meanwhile Aina talked of how Watanabe-san never changes no matter the circumstance so she saw that as proof that he lived a truthful-to-oneself life and that is what she learned from him, to live her life without faces. Also she says that no matter what happens she knows he would never discard her so he seems to be very connected to the girls. Which I guess makes sense seeing as she runs the company by himself!
They also talk about their various groups and popularity and the in between and Yukirin brings up the common problem in business when she says she says she worried about their popularity rising to the heavens despite them doing the same thing they always did and wonders what would happen if it dropped! Do they change the way they did things but then what, would they still be them that got the attention of so many people?!
In case anyone did not know, AKB48 are in the Guinness Book for their single sales and are No.3 on the list of most popular Idols ever (in Japan I think) only behind Matsuda Saeko and Morning Musume! If you are wondering why MM, then you need to brush up on your history!
I did not understand much what Aina said for her group but it someone sounded lonely. They then moved on to future prospects when Yukirin wonders what Aina wants to do in the future and she of course totally squeezed my heart tight when she pulled the family card!
She says that she has a younger Sister, who still lives back in their prefecture Osaka (Aina is currently in Tokyo) and that her sister loves to dance and so Aina wants to make her Sister’s dream come true of becoming a professional dancer and probably even collaborate together since Aina is a music creator too.
“Nothing is more important than making a loved one happy!”
Damn, that hit right in the FEELs Aina-kun! And Yukirin’s to that reaction was perfect!
And her other dream is to have BiSH go to Tokyo Dome! Yukirin has of course been twice with AKB48 (two consecutive years too) but as she says, she did not feel the wonder of it all because it was mostly due to their Seniors (And you too Yukirin, you were No.3 at the time. Don’t be shy) but she adds that currently there is a lot of new members who have never been so she wants to go there again with them and this time she will feel it will be because of their hard work.
The two share a wish for Tokyo Dome and wouldn’t it be awesome if both BiSH and AKB48 went there?! Yukirin would probably post a 4 hour youtube video thanking the Fans were she to attend with both groups!
As for Yukirin, she puts my heart at peace when she says that she wants to continue going as an Idol as long as she can. As long as there are Fans she will continue going and suddenly, all my fears I have had for two years (since that fake announcement before the pandemic) are laid to rest.
Only I pray for her complete recovery of course. It would be the worst card Fate pulled to put a stop to her dreams of being an Eternal Idol due to an incurable disease, and one that is the worst to someone in her profession!
Aina in a deep voice: “Yuki-chan, do you like me?”
Yukirin laughing: “I like Aina-kun, but who the hell are you?!”
Aina-kun in her dialect: “I like you Yuki-chan!”
Yukirin : LOOOOOL
Aina-kun in a sing song voice: “I am a wolf! You better run Yuki-chan. You’re in danger!”
Yukirin dies in laughter!
So goes the conversation they have after the talk when they walk into the next room! Like, seriously, what is this?! Aina-kun for president for giving us this moment! She totally gave us a lover’s perspective with those camera angles when they took turns in filming each other as they lay side by side!
Sadly due to corona they had to social distance (Aina The Endisclaimers) so I will just have to leave the un-spaced alternative take in my head!
Seriously, this was such a wonderful video! And there is part two!
Life is good again!
