So, our Manila sisters just really beat the Bangkok family at the yuri game, huh…
If BNK48 has something please do let me know! But until then, I will stand in awe that MNL48 not only came out with one but they came out swing for the home-run!
We are just at episode 1 and they are already winning! Heck, the girls haven’t even met yet and the love is already in the air! I am flabbergasted! I mean, I saw the trailer but for some reason I did not think it was real! And the way the episode started, with a real twist that nearly broke me, I thought for a second that we were being played!
Fear not, there is no playing here!
The series is on YouTube and the subs are almost instant so really, there is no reason why you aren’t watching but I will be giving quickies here anyway! Let’s kick things off with our girls first!
Now, I am not deep into MNL48 and I am mostly about their MVs and YouTube series so I am not that well versed but best believe it, if they have a series, I am doing my best to learn the girls that are involved!
From this first episode we meet two only, with the third being voice only. Short haired girl is Jem and the character she is playing is Jackie, who is one of those girls that are a glutton for punishment in that they still stick to their not so nice boyfriends.
Yeah, She had a boyfriend, who is double timing her and yet she still stalks him and still accept his stupid love letters. But fear not, Jackie does develop new feelings in this first episode for of course, the other girl, Portia, who is played by member Dana!
Speaking of these two options for front-lining this drama, I give points and an ovation to MNL Management for not caring about rankings like a certain group based in the area that Portia is face-timing Jackie from – Tokyo.
Jem ranked 10th in the latest senbatsu while Dana was way down to the 32nd! Can you imagine an certain Ex-Team going that route!?! Ha!
So anyway, the two are friends and they are video-calling not because of the pandemic but because Portia is in Japan. The subject that drives the first episode is Jackie’s doomed love life while Portia tries to help her move on and respect her self-worth, which comes with some great moments of her trying to sell Jackie’s great charm points.
And you know how a certain thing or action makes someone fall in love with another? Well, these compliments are what snaps Jackie out of her trap and realises that she might have not so friendly feelings for Portia!
The scene was really cute and definitely the highlight of the episode!
Meanwhile for Portia’s part, I find it hard to tell if she is in love with Jackie or not! Also with the introduction of a potential love rival in her neighbour Jules, was she always gay and had hidden feelings for Jackie or did she really only see Jackie as just a friend?
There were moments during their conversation where she would slip but put it off as a joke but when Jules came onto the scene, I wasn’t so sure anymore! I do not like silver plate dishes so I hope that she at least does not have feelings for Jackie from the get go. We need a bit of that sauce that you getting from fighting for a love that isn’t guaranteed!
Speaking of Jules, the pure jealousy on Jackie’s side when she jumped to the same conclusions about maybe Jules being more than just a friend to Portia, or maybe she is jealous even if Jules is only a friend, it was quite cute too!
I have to also mention the cuteness of Portia always waking up Jackie at the dot every morning and the way Jackie just comes to look forward to that morning routine, only for it to stop because some girl named Jules was taking up Portia’s and her precious time!
Ahhhh! I am here for all this! MNL48 for the win!!!
