Who the hell is Mizuki, like, really?!!
Other than a very protective lesbian of course!
This is basically a love note (from Mizuki)
But the biggest mystery is this last episode! What was that!?! This is not how you end something!! This is an episode or the part that comes right before the climax! This is supposed to be the gotcha moment before the epic finale goes down! But instead this is what the actual ending is here!!
Colour me surprised that it was a let-down!
Basically, the whole episode is a summary of what has happened so far since episode one! And it did not just take up a portion of the episode, but the whole damn episode! It showed us what Mizuki’s plans were and why she was doing it but unlike what I was thinking, she was some evil master mind, though she came close, hence the kind of crazy lesbian!
I mean, if people are so keen to call Akemi Homura crazy (I don’t align with that black and white line of thinking just to be clear), we might as well call Mizuki here crazy since she was willing to do anything, and I mean anything, if it meant to save her love Yuriko!
Yes, the only meaningful thing in this episode was that we finally got Mizuki’s side of this love story, and while she has been preaching her protectiveness over Yuriko, unlike Yuriko who went so far as to fantasize about kissing Mizuki, something the writers totally forgot about, probably after the fish bit the bait and stayed for the rest, we hadn’t really gotten that real confirmation of Mizuki’s love for Yuriko!
This episode puts it to rest! She literally calls it a love story! Hers and Yuriko’s love story and that those who might be against it were to be rid of, which she basically did! Now, while she did not kill anyone herself other than Asaka-senpai, she did aid in the others end, though not all! And even with Asaka-senpai, she was more like helping her kill herself since she was set on committing suicide via sleeping pills overdose! Mizuki just got her to hang on a bit more until she helped get revenge on the people who killed her best friend (Yuri-kun’s sister), and it seems Mizuki promised to helped Asaka-senpai die! That was why Asaka-senpai did not seem angry or shocked when Mizuki stabbed her! Really, her showing up at that time was an eyebrow raiser in the first place!
We learn a bit more of Mizuki and Yuriko’s past like Mizuki loving Yuriko since their Junior High, probably when they became close, but they go way back to Primary school! Mizuki swore to save Yuriko and one day create a world where Yuriko would be safe and happy!
And that is exactly what she does in this series where she not only gets rid of Yuriko’s bullies but she makes Yuriko kind of the Idol of the school when she becomes the new Yuriko-sama! The fact that along the way students got to love her before she even became one meant that her life was to shine from then on!
But what does Mizuki get out of all this? She only had two wishes and one has already been fulfilled with her actions so far where she manages to change Yuriko’s sad and painful life into one that is great! The other wish of hers, which really is also already kind of fulfilled is that she wants to be with Yuriko until the end of time! Really Mizuki, there is not need to worry about that one we thinks…
So yeah, this is a yuri (and yaoi) series and while we never get the silver plate service that many crave, at least we got word confirmation! Sure it was no confession from both but really, we saw individual feelings of each side and they love each other! If Mizuki had not said it too then there would be a problem but even still, just because it is unrequited love, does not mean it is not love, right?!
The story was also left open and they could turn Mizuki into some kind of mystery detective and as we saw, she could not have solved the Yuriko-sama mystery without Yuriko herself so really, those two come as a pair!
More stories of these two please Japan!
The real mystery that we were left with though is who exactly Mizuki is!! She literally had people from all levels under her thumb even one of the Teachers! Like, who is she?! We at least need a series about her where Yuriko now is the one trying to solve something in Mizuki’s life!
There is an idea for you Japan!
Anyway, yeah! I am totally buying this on bluray when it comes out! Horror and Yuri, what a heavenly delight!
Until next yuri series…
