Well, still better than most!
As if not wanting to lose to Mexico, here comes Brazil into the game with one of their own fantasy thriller with a dash of horror in the form of Spectros!
It’s short, just like Diablero, but again I am sure they will get a second season. At least I hope they do because they have a lot to answer to, especially to us the shippers!
Must’ve been some kiss, with that reaction!
You see, they did the thing where they completely forgot one of their main characters was totally gay as the series went on, to the point of even almost turning her straight! I nearly threw up but thankfully, that thread got deaded, literally!
But this being that kind of series, and our girl Carla having the power to talk to the dead, I have a bad feeling still but thankfully, a lot more hope! You see, going into this I was actually shipping Carla with Mila, the main character! There is obvious history between them as we meet them as enemies when they were best childhood friends!
But do the series explain what happened between them two? Nope! And while Carla ends the series in a relationship with a boyfriend, there is still that history that needs explaining, especially given that Carla is totally gay! Well, at least she was at the beginning of the series, where she had her own gang, was a badass and one of them was her own girlfriend!
As for the story of the series, our three frenemies get tangled into the end of the world as you might expect. This time someone is reviving the dead and is planning on using them as an army to destroy the world. The three friends get mixed in by accident but they are also somewhat connected!
Mila’s father for example is an apprentice of the keeper of the only thing that can be used to control the dead. Carla needs Mila’s father to help her with her problem of hearing voices, which she did not know were those of ghosts! Since there are more and more dead walking around, Carla’s condition is getting worse.
Dick, Mila’s boyfriend, decides to go steal from the keeper of the mystic ashes where they run into an immortal who was over to steal the ashes for himself. There are dead bodies and thus they are taken in as suspects and from there things get more mixed in.
As you all know I am a horror fan so of course even without the yuri, I was all in with this series. In fact I went in not knowing that it had yuri. I was pleasantly surprised when I got some! Even though it was really short lived! Before you even realise it, it’s over! Seriously, though Carla and her girls start out as a big deal, after that second episode they are completely forgotten about! You never see them ever again!
Thankfully, before they disappeared for good, Carla had a goodbye kiss with her girlfriend and while we never got anything more from them, you never even suspect that they have something more going on before the kiss, unless you have an eye for these things, we intellectuals know the untold story is the more interesting so you can build one up in your mind.
Until they are revisited next season that is! Hoping of course they remember that Carla was gay at a certain time and that she has a girlfriend somewhere forgotten about!
Anyway, I brought this to your attention so you can watch it if you are in need of something and judge for yourself if it is worth it. I have a feeling a lot of people will be pissed! It’s on Netflix anyway so enjoy!

Thank you! You should watch El Embarcadero for Alex and Veronica!

Can I add Italy to your list? Luna Nera is also a Netflix show and while the story is somewhat predictable (veeery much reminded me of a YA book series I read), it was super entertaining, it’s an all female production and has some very nice scenes that I promise you will like! I went into this not expecting much and only watched it for the witch aspect in the summary, but man, did I get hooked onto one of the angsty pairings 😀 Just to give a quote of my favourite scene: “I can accept you being my enemy… but not losing you.”

Damn you, I was doing that next 😆
Though probably for the wrong couple 😅

I did like both options they gave us, even if one of them was just… not supposed to be, lets call it that. But I’m a sucker for angsty relationships, so there goes that 😂 I hope they’ll make a second season very quickly or at least publish the book in English (I’m surprised that this didn’t happen yet). I’m just super happy with this show because I didn’t expect to get such nice couples so casually in the story. The only thing that honestly keeps bothering me is how much it reminds me of the YA book I read years ago and I’m a bit worried that the author got her idea from there (then again the whole story is just not new).

Well, I guess I more of a glutton for punishment than you are since I was more into this not meant to be couple than the head witches couple. 🤕
I am sure we will get a second season
