So, you thought you had seen the last of me?
Anyway, I totally missed you all! Those who follow me on twitter will know I’ve been alive all this time. So why no posts? Well, my PC died on me a while back and I just got it back so we are good now.
I have so much content that I had no idea where to even start and so I went for the easy one – The latest find! This is of course Aimer’s Official Music Video to the single that is the Ending Theme of the anime – After The Rain.
It’s about a schoolgirl who falls in love with a much older man, who was her boss at her part time job. I of course haven’t watched that anime but I did watch the Live Action movie version of it. Why? Because Komatsu Nana, that’s why! Not to mention there was some kind of vibes with her rival athlete. And since that romance never got realised, well, in the movie at least, there was potential there so…
Anyway, that anime and movie have zero fucks to do with this Music Video other than the fact that the song is the theme of the anime! Ms Aimer went and did her magic again here! If you don’t know who this woman is, shame on you!
But shame on me too, because this Video came out last year, last year in Feb/March! Like, talk about epic fail! How the hell am I like, just finding out about this now?! How is it that nobody told me about this?! We all failed on this one!
The MV stars our own girl Hiyori who you might remember from playing Shizuno in Saki Achiga-hen and for myself, I knew her before then in another one of those personal favourite movies – The Furthest End Awaits. It’s almost like Japanese version of A Girl At My Door but watered down, way down.
The other girl named Uyu, no seriously, that’s her name!! I am not familiar with but one doesn’t simply get a role in Aimer’s MV so she has to be something, right? That she is, other than the fact that she was a runner up of Miss ID in 2018 (Competition of the cutest of the cutest in whole of Japan) she’s also an Idol, member of a relatively new Idol Group ‘Shyuengo Buppan’ or ‘終演後物販卍’ in kanji.
The story is of course like the anime of which this song is the theme of! It’d about a forbidden love that happened at a certain time in their lives but that it is no longer! Hiyori is obviously the one who was in love with Uyu given her deep emotions she displays and while I am not sure whether Uyu was projecting the older man in the anime’s story being so much less emotional or if she is just not at acting, I don’t give a tick, the message was received clear as day!
Everyone has that forbidden love they felt at a young age! I remember too that when I was like 13, I fell for this girl, but she wasn’t any girl, she was the most popular and beautiful girl in school and looking back I have no idea why I even thought I had a chance! I of course asked her to meet me ion private to tell her something (confession obviously) but I was turned down, obviously. Not only was she out of reach in popularity, but she was older than I. And let’s not talk about the other elephant in the room.
So yeah, when I see MVs or movies about this innocent and forgotten love I get so emotionally attached and they hit right in my soul! Hiyori’s acting here didn’t help in the least! I was a total mess afterwards! She was so in love with Uyu’s characters here and as for Uyu, she is not in the wrong here. Some might come to the conclusion that she denied Hiyori but that is not the case! Hiyori kissed her twice and while she pulled back after the first time, she did not the second time! Was it pity? I don’t think so. The two obviously cared for each other so much and unless we take the anime as the source to know what happened between them, theirs might have been a completely different story. Maybe their separation was beyond both of their control. Maybe Uyu died or something! I mean the way the MV is shot it might be seen as Hiyori mourning someone than just a memory of past love.
And sometimes Uyu was the one to make the first move and when it was Hiyori, she did not seem to resist, other than that first kiss as I said, which really, might just be because she was surprised! I mean, no matter who you are, if your friend, of the same sex kissed you, you will have a reaction, no matter what! And really, hers wasn’t even that extreme. All she did was pull back and it was after a few seconds, it wasn’t a scalding pull back! Neither was there any disgust on her face or total shock!
I do wish though that there wasn’t any of that dance scenes. It should have been kept as a drama through and through but eh, since when are MVs that straight forward, eh?
The two though, totally shippable! They reminded me of Takane and Mika from the Spinoff of Shushinki Gokko! The fun they had at that time! They were in their own little world! But while they do look happy, there is this other side of the story that is so sad too. Like I said, I was crying my eyes out! And Hiyori acting….God!
God, now I want a series or a movie based on their story! Let’s get a spinoff of After The Rain in Live Action dear Japan! Do it now!
Oh Aimer how I love you! Only you can turn a theme for a totally straight anime into a totally gay music video! Love you and please don’t ever change!
Anyway, the video and more caps…

I thought you covered this before. I liked some of the dance scenes though especially when they were far from each other but the dance steps seem like they are doing the steps to each other but they were doing it to themselves and the shots change between the two of them.

Also, have you seen Sjukt Oklar? It’s a Swedish comedy series about a 24 year old woman pretending to be a high school student. Her new teacher turns out to be her summer fling. All episodes have been subbed now.

The first love is unforgettable, a mix between curiosity and true feelings that have not been corrupted by social norms about what is accepted and what is not.
I like the aesthetics of the video, the use of red.
I do not know why but it reminds me this video
Have you seen it?
