Meanwhile across the seas, Euphoria is progressing almost like Yuridano. In fact, if this is a typical HBO show, it too will be 8 episodes.
Now, sure Yuridano had its first kiss in episode 2 but really, it came down to restraint because there was that moment in episode 2 where the girls were stoned that I expected them to kiss. Should I take this restraint then as a good sign that things won’t progress the same?
Unfortunately, I can’t say for certain that they won’t because unlike Yuridano, Euphoria at least gives you warning signs to proceed with caution! For starters, Jules’ crush on Dick is growing stronger and they are to soon meet next episode. And if there wasn’t that bridge to cross, the show hasn’t really made it clear of Rue’s feelings for Jules. It’s mostly up to us viewers to make up our minds. Though after this episode…
This damn scene…New gay-gif king right here…LOL
In addition to those conditions, there is the other fact that Jules made it clear to Rue that if she doesn’t stop doing drugs, Jules will stop hanging out with her. But there is the thing, it is going to be hard for Rue to quit because unlike other addicts, she has a reason to do drugs. Not that I am supporting her decision and it might be just an excuse seeing as she hasn’t had an attack since that one time in class. But maybe it is just that nothing effective has happened to her. That might be when Jules finds out that Rue lied to her about being clean when she was still using and them two breaking up.
Another condition that warrants caution is what I already talked about in the beginning. Girls like Jules rarely, very rarely, even in shallow waters like porn, girls like her very rarely go for other girls! No matter how much I try I just can’t get that truth out of my mind. In fact to me, it is the forefront blockade.
So, with these conditions, it is kind of impossible not to proceed with hazard lights on.
But there are the other factors for these two to be together as well. For Rue, if anyone is to help in her road to becoming clean it’s Jules. In her case, she needs the drugs to fill up a certain void in her life and as she says, she has never met anyone like Jules. She probably doesn’t know it yet because her feelings haven’t been defined yet, well, before now, so she hasn’t grasped the value that Jules is to her.
Jules on the other hand is also looking for something in life that keeps her running into shitty people in her life. Sure she is looking for a true friend and maybe that’s all she needed from Rue which means that the kiss might have been a bane instead of a blessing. But she will soon learn. Next week she will be meeting her secret crush and it is not going to end well. First of all he is lying to her, not only about his identity but about his elephant size, as we found out through his girlfriend looking through his phone and finding dick pics he downloaded from the net, which made her think he was gay (which means…).
And then after learning the identity of her secret crush, then finding out he was lying about his trunk, then she will find out who Dick’s dad is and then shit will hit the fan! I only hope that she doesn’t learn about Rue lying to her soon after that too. I guess we should be safe on that end seeing as Rue finally confined into that fellow user who wished to help her so you know, she might get clean for real then she can turn her lie into truth.
But let’s leave the would be and future stuff on the wayside and talk about what happened in this episode. First off, the episode opening with Jules spooning Rue had my face splitting from the get-go. I thought they were going to the hospital after they found her like that, but I guess she wasn’t that bad as she ended up at Jules.
When Rue wakes up that is when they have the talk where Jules tells her that she had better quit using because Jules has enough shit in her life to deal with to add another on the pile and drug abuse is one of the major one. She is right too, her lie is already fucked as it is and if she can’t find something good to balance it out…
And that is something that Rue is supposed to be to her – something good in her life that cancels out the other bad shit. That’s what Jules wanted, it’s what she needs. And if Rue can’t be it, then she does not want her, even though I am sure it will hurt lots losing her.
In this episode we also start to see Rue’s feelings towards Jules come through. They do through her small displays of jealousy, as Jules tells us how she turns into her Dad when she is on the phone texting someone.
They came through when she was trying to act unaffected as she helped Jules take sexy selfies of herself to send to her mystery crush. She succeeded in fooling Jules but not us and most definitely not herself. There was this moment where Jules asked her if she thought she was hot? Hot as in hot or hot as in she wants to sleep with her? And Rue is like, him sleeping with Jules or herself sleeping with Jules and Jules is like both and Rue is like…
They came through again with the obvious relief when she was saved by the bell, so to speak, when her mother decided to call her then and save her. But Jules wasn’t letting her go easily. She was making eyes at her and poking her leg through out the call and then when she found out that Rue had been on a clean streak for almost two weeks, she was so proud she started showring her with kisses all over the face, neck and head.
The grin on Rue’s face said it all.
It might have come through again later when Jules told Rue that her mystery crush wanted to meet after the upcoming festival. I say might because maybe she was more worried about Jules being alone with the stranger than her being jealous. Jules was going to meet the guy not at the festival but in some woods afterwards just the two of them. Even I was worried, especially after what happened to her in episode one.
Not getting the support from Rue that she expected makes Jules feel betrayed which gives us their kind of first falling out. It does not last though because Rue misses Jules more than she probably thought as she does not waste time going to Jules’ home to set things straight. Thankfully Jules is not a petty person, so things go smoothly.
Rue just had to explain that she only wants Jules to be safe and that Jules shouldn’t be mad at her for wanting her to be safe. Jules of course doesn’t, or maybe she had the time to think things over and the two hug then do the title pose and then the chanting begins in my brain as I chant for Rue to not do it because I knew it was going to happen!
I was like, don’t you do it! Don’t you dare do it! This is going to end badly, and you will have no one to blame but yourself! Don’t do it! Unfortunately, it did happen but fortunately, the reaction wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. There was no ‘sorry but I don’t like you that way’ kind of reaction from Jules (I am looking at you Yuri) and in fact Jules’ reaction was kind of a mystery.
You could take it either way, her shock. Was she shocked in the, ah shit, there goes another friendship, or was she shocked as in, omg was I chasing the wrong sex all this time, because that felt mighty good, kind of reaction? As for Rue, there was no mystery on her side. Her feelings finally overflowed and let her know how exactly she felt about Jules. Her going straight to her dealer friend to get a fix was a clear sign that she was fucked, as in her problems just got bigger.
And having failed to resist spying the previews for the next episode, it doesn’t look like the kiss was a mistake because Jules and Rue seem to be the usual selves, even with a hint of closerness. But there was other garbage to keep an eye out for like Jules meeting not only Dick but his Dad too.
But who cares?! Rue and Jules kissed and whatever may come, something is bound to change. I am 100% sure it won’t be like Yuridano, where they totally ignored what transpired in episode 4!
Anyway, enough reading, here are the caps…

Looking at Yuri😂😂😂. I wish both Rue and Kairi to find their happiness even if it isn’t with Jules or Yuri.
(Sorry if this is kind of annoying but have you watched Sjukt Oklar? It’s a Swedish comedy webseries and the main character has a female love interest. Aside from the yuri part, it was a genuinely great series.)

YouTube? I might check it out. First time I have heard of it.

It’s in SVT’s website: https://www.svtplay.se/video/20517871/sjukt-oklar/sjukt-oklar-sasong-1-avsnitt-1?start=auto but you need to use google translate. It’s actually the best google translation I’ve seen so far and even if there are mistakes, the conversations still make sense.
Someone uploaded it in Drive with English and Mandarin subs which can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1YBJ9LoDrDcJLL2QllM3dhzjvisbGG3t7 and the last two episodes can be found on Weibo, I think.
