I have a bad feeling about this…
Yes, yes, I know the caps don’t support my feeling but, look, let’s just say that my yuri-sense is tingling and not for the good reasons…
Yes, Rue and Jules are hitting it off. They have had more moments in this episode than last (which doesn’t say much given that they only met in the last 5 minutes in the first episode). They have held hands at school. Rue has had two of those cliché moments of romance, first when her world brightened up the moment her eyes landed on Jules in school. Second was after she asked Jules out on a date (family dinner but hey, the way Rue was acting…well…) and after Jules left, literally the cloud above her covered the sun and it started raining! And that was while Jules’ still had the sun as she rode off!
Too much on the nose on those metaphors dear Director!
And how can I forget the ‘NOW KISS’ moment they had while they were high? Yeah, sure, that isn’t the ideal time to be doing that as any excuse can be used to dupe us and they have only just met, like, literally that was their first time meeting (still in Jules’ bedroom) so I had no hope but if it had happened, I wouldn’t have complained!
Another point to their relationship is that Rue’s pal, who hits her up on the drugs and kind of her BMF, so it fit to call Jules when Rue was given a dose way out of her league by one of BMF’s dealers who happened to drop in while Rue was around taking shelter from the rain (and picking up some supplies). She is probably going to end up in the hospital, again but it was curious to see him call Jules and not Rue’s sister. I guess she is too young still to be put through that again, having experienced Rue’s near-death experience before.
In addition to Jules being Rue’s intermediate contact, they also had a cute moment in the car on their way to (I presume) the hospital, with Rue laying with her head ion Jules’ lap and Jules’ crying for her. And then the show went a step farther and showed us Rue waking up at that moment. Usually they leave things like that out, probably wondering who cares if Rue was laying in Jules’ lap?
Me bitch, that’s who…
After this episode I can already kind of see a path that is going to happen and what state of mind our girls are in. For Jules, Rue is a friend, her best and only friend really. I doubt she thinks of Rue as more than that and I don’t think she will either, well, not any time soon! Why? Because she is just like the rest that we have gotten to be represented in media. She is more into guys!
I really shouldn’t have bitten that bait so hard! As things stand, I am not completely giving up but my levels of anticipation have dropped by like, 50%. What’s worse, this guy she keeps texting with, the guy she is so blind in lust with, is Dick, the son of big Dick that fucked her in the first episode! You can even consider him the male lead as, I hope I am wrong about this, has had even more screen time than Rue and Rue is the frikkin narrator for Christ’s sakes!!
But I guess there is still some hope that Jules will see the error of her ways later when truth bombs drop. The two already met but Jules almost stabbed his ass but having seen my fill of stupid romance stories, they can still end up together even as they are obviously not a healthy couple! Dick is a psycho who beats up guys because they slept with his girlfriend, who by the way seduced them! He also gets off on his father’s rape/underage sex tapes (which by the way I hope he finds the tape with Jules) and did I mention he is obsessive?!
So, there is that chance of that not happening and then there is the other of Jules finally seeing that Rue is better for her and hopefully choose her in the end.
As for Rue, she has it bad for Jules, like, there is even not doubt about it! She might not know it is love but all the signs couldn’t have been more obvious. She already has a BFF in Lexie, and while they seem to have had a falling out and are not that tight as they used to be, Lexie still cares for Rue even though Rue seems to do nothing but push her away.
I am kind of intrigued about Lexie though. She was in the rehab center Rue was attending but she doesn’t look like an addict. I mean, she might just be ‘clean’ but I am curious about why she is there! Was it because of Rue? Was it something else? I don’t want to be overly optimistic but what if the falling out had something to do with her feelings for Rue? But then she would be the one pushing Rue away not the other way around so…
I am sure the show will explain it eventually! Yeah, no matter what happens, I am sitting through this one till the bitter end! Even if Jules ends up dating Dick, I will still watch until the end! This shoe is just too out of the ordinally and thus like, 1 in a 1000 so I ain’t missing it for the world!
Art I dying in entertainment and we have to appreciate whatever we still get!
