So, there was this one Keyakizakatte Kakenai episode that I wanted to write about but somehow, I totally forgot all about it. That episode was the one with Ozeki Rika and Uemura Rina going to Niigata for a skiing date!

I wanted to use that episode to share my Keyakizaka ships but the more time passed and the more things changed in the group, the less appealing that post sounded. As you can imagine it was hard to get it going.

But better late than never, right? So I might as well give it a short shout out at the very least!

At the time that episode aired, while I was an avid shipper of Ozeki and Uemura when the group first formed, as time passed Ozeki became my Oshi and with that comes the curse of her being shipped with virtually any member, and I have to say some were more appealing than Uemura.

And this is not just on me! Ozeki is quite popular with the members but in a totally different way than Oda (Nana) is! By the time the episode aired, Kobayahi Yui had already come out with her crush on Ozeki and so had Watanabe Risa! Funny fact, those two already, as of the time of writing this, have gotten their own special episodes with just them and Rika.

Then there is Sub-Captain Moriya Akane! Her story though is more off screen and more in blog posts and in photos. I have already posted some here I believe.

That all being said, there is just something about Uemura that gives her that Mayuyu status, in relation to Ozeki’s Yukirin, that makes you think of her as the official wife compared to the mistresses!

You know how opposites attract and usually the couples are much different from each other? With these two, they are the exact same! Same height, same energy levels, both weird, though in different ways and this episode shows all this!

We have had quite a few of these ‘couple’ episodes so far but somehow Ozeki and Uemura’s is the one that feels romantic! Was it because they went to a dating sport and Uemura was teaching Ozeki to ski? Was is all the cuteness they displayed? Was it how so cute and fitting the two looked together? Was it the romantic night on which things ended? Was it the promise of doing this again soon showing that Ozeki found she loved skiing after having a great teacher in Uemura who held her hand all through out the lessons?

Or was it because this all came to be after a battle between Yui and Rina, for who Ozeki liked more?

BTW, those episodes where the girls duke it out to be paired up with their soulmates are some of the best from this show! It hurts seeing all the heart breaks of course but oh so much fun! You can totally see who is into whom and who isn’t!

Romance aside, this episode was quite entertaining too. I don’t know if I am just biased, but if I am so are the show runners given the screen time they give Ozeki, but that girl is so funny! And she is not funny in a cracks jokes kind of way but rather naturally funny! Even if you aren’t a shipper this episode was great to watch, you must admit!
