Alright, alright, I am calm. Let’s talk…
So dear Readers, thanks to a great Reader (Itendshere) for the heads up, a day before my birthday we are in for a treat you all! Another gem of yuri heavenly-sent dramas is on the way to us! How long has it been since we got one! I for one have even forgotten!
Fumika plays Shinohara Yuri – a lesbian (that’s right, a lesbian named yuri! Even her name is written like yuri!!) while Fujiko plays Ninomiya Kairi, a long lost childhood friend with whom Yuri re-unites with in search of a new house!
I am so pumped for this!! At the same time I am sure it’s going to be a pain to get a hold of it being as it is a streaming service drama. And unlike the West, Japanese streaming shows are really, really, hard to get! This reminds me of that Eliza series I posted about a while back, also from the same producer by the way (FOD – FujiTV) which to this day I have yet been able to get my hands on that sequel!
But with how popular these two are, the chances are high we will be getting it not so longer after! And hopefully, it is a normal length drama (8-12eps) unlike the 3 of said drama! Most of my usual Readers know who Fujiko is but Fumika on the other hand, if we are in the same boat, then the last time you saw her was in CODE BLUE 3rd season and the movie that just came out, as one of the new fellows! I actually planned on posting about her and a certain other (see friends pics above) so I might just do that soon…
Seriously though, I still can’t wrap my mind around Fumika and Fujiko being in a lesbian drama together! Hell, the drama ain’t even out yet and they are in the news already…
Speaking of, where is that trailer too?!! There’s just over a month and a week left before it airs! Come on Japan!!
That is all but before I go, there is an apt way to close this off, and that is with the shipping name of these two…

Sorry to bring bad news but maybe it’s better to keep expectations low.
The author has said there was no intention of creating a lesbian romance and added something on the line that if a nice men were to pop up, they’d happily share him. Which is questionable in many ways.
I mean, we might still get something nice but I prefer to expect the worst.
And it it were to be the worst, this would be an awful and disgusting case of queerbating. Let’s see.

Also read that one of the two main characters had negative experiences with men. This is a trope that seems a lot more prevalent in Japan when it comes to the depiction of lesbian relationships in film & tv.
The writer/director for this is a man, which always makes me a bit hesitant. Especially with the bullshit about them being able to go for a guy if someone nice pops up.
Lets hope for the best. And if our worries turn out to be true, lets hope the drama gets criticized to death.

I truly hope we’ll get something good, but if there’s any hint everywhere pointing out it might not, I think it’s better to know beforehand. Just that. It’s out there the way the show is being presented beside pics and it’s been causing quite a stir among Japanese lesbians and bisexual women (and yuri fans in general) on Twitter these days. Let’s see how it’s gonna go.

Either way, I’m all in. And if they are baiting, I think it’s good too because then they will learn after people retaliate in backlash.
Japan needs a wakeup call.
But only if they are lying.
Which is weird given that one of the characters is described as being a lesbian.
