Now, if you have not read THIS yet, or need a refresher, then please do so before we commence because I am about to go commando on this show and I don’t wish to get confused comments! That being said, I will be bringing up the scenes from the book as I talk about them but I might skip some words and will use indirect quotes so it is best you read that post first.

Now, don’t be too down because like I mentioned in my music video post, the finale for the show took away a huge chunk of my bitterness as it answered one of my wishes from the very first coverage POST – which was that I wished the show would change the book ending, which it did and I am forever glad about that, so I lost some of my bitterness for what they did to some Ammille scenes, one of which I was most looking forward to and made me the most angry!

What scene am I talking about, why that is of course the scene I couldn’t shut up about before it happened! It was the scene that was to rival the ‘tooth scene’ from The Handmaiden. This is of course the Rolling Roulette scene, the ‘kiss’! At least that is what it was supposed to – A pretty intense and infinitely hot scene! But instead we got this…

Like, I don’t even know what the fuck this is supposed to be! There is no way Amma passed anything to Camille in this scene! I did not see the tongue, only lips touching, just the upper lips! Unless they were exchanging air, I have no idea what was going on there! Did Amma just push the pill with an exhale or something?!!

Ah but I am jumping way ahead of myself here!

In the book it was not just this scene that was changed! Just sticking with this night to end all nights, the night of the party, not only did the beginning get changed (before the party) but the ending too was changed (after the party) and not all for the best! What hits the most though is that in the book this night is really significant to these two because it was that turning point for them! From here on there was no more clashing of any kind between them! This might seem strange a thing to say to those who haven’t read the book, as Amma’s character was also one of the things watered down from the book for some reason, but Amma was a real bitch in the book! Not even Camille was safe from her! Like, the girl introduced her at one point as ‘The Bastard of the Family’! So this whole night was very important because it changed their dynamics completely and turned them into the people we mostly see in the show, especially towards the end!

I said ‘not all for the best’ because there was some changes that were good. Going back to the very beginning, you all remember at the store when Camille was jumped by Amma and Kelsey? That was not in the book! But what we got there was Amma jumping Camille like a dog in heat as soon as she exit the store, then Amma possessively hugging her from behind as she introduced her to the guys in the car! In the book Amma never got out of the car so I applaud the show for that awesome start!

The way to the party though, that all is going to the book! There is a scene that happened in the book during the car ride that did not make it and it also pissed me off because it was another moment which highlighted a change in how Amma was treating Camille! We also got another glimpse into Camille’s inner conflict with her feelings towards Amma where the need to please and be accepted clashed with morals of doing drugs with her baby sister!

But anyway, Camille’s thoughts on the side, the ride to the party had two distinct scenes and moments that we missed out on in the show! The first one, and what most people take for granted, is the fact that these two exchange saliva here in the car before we even get to the party! Once again the passing happens from Amma to Camille, or should I say, first of all, since the other moment happens later on at the party? Anyway, the kids are already high on alcohol when Camille joins them and she is passed a bottle from Amma, which she had just taken a swig from, which of course Camille drinks from too because she describes to us what it tastes like (hot rum that tasted like sun-tan lotion). And let’s not forget the line Camille dropped as she was debating whether to go with the kids to the party before she had gotten in the car…where she admitted that she while she hated it, she was becoming obsessed with the girl and her sudden friendliness towards Camille – the girl being of course, Amma!

There were moments like this that would fly by many a heads but not me! For example, I bet no one gave a second thought about Amma’s line about Camille being stopped for DUI (Driving Under Influence) because she could ‘smell’ Camille! Like, they even put the word smell in different formatting! And this is from the same girl that Camille has commended earlier on when she had met her with Dick when Camille thought that Amma made the sentence ‘no, you are right in the loop’ sound sexual!

But I am getting side-tracked again. Going back to the ride to the party, Camille is passed a bottle from Amma that had ‘the rim ringed with pink lip gloss’! now, don’t ask me how Camille could see that in the dark but she did and made it a point to tell us about it meaning she was very conscious of the fact that she was about to drink from the same bottle Amma had just drunk from and if it was nothing, just an innocent think, then she wouldn’t care at all to even mention it but Camille always noticed these weird things!

Like that that time at the pool near John’s house (who was mostly the suspect for the murders, including his sister). Where Camille was noticing things like how Amma looked tan, blonde and delicious in her bikini – tiny and colourful as an appetizer! Like, seriously, Camille was also out of this world in the book! Back to the noticing, she was very apt in her description of how Amma was rubbing lotion on her chest, breasts and under her bikini top! Or how one strap of top had fallen askew to show the plump breast underneath!!! Yes, the pool scene went differently in the book than it did on the show too! God, the show is like PG compared to the Unrated book!

Like, Camille had to remind herself that Amma was thirteen years old, as if to quell the luscious thoughts she was having as she spied upon her baby sister! I swear if what happened in the show happened to the Camille in the book, where Amma is concerned (she was more persuasive in the show than in the book), I tell you we would get a sex scene eventually because my god, Camille was shameless in the book and Amma waay too seductive!

Speaking of the subject of noticing, let’s not forget that time that the girls met Dick and Camille! ‘They were hot little things, I had to admit’ said a certain heroine! ‘Except Jodes, the rest had breasts, full and wobbly and way overripe’! Camille continued to observe! She missed nothing, not the way Amma’s tongue rolled around the lollipop or the fact that Amma wore a skirt so short it was trailing her crotch! Or how her face was peach-skinned, no wrinkles or blotches and so perfect and character-free it might have just popped out of the womb!

Like, can you believe if this was a book written by a man and it got adapted? They would be interneted into oblivion by SJWs waving the ‘male-gaze’ bullshit but this was a woman, writing a woman’s perspective about her own sister, a baby sister!

Seriously, I can’t imagine the show surviving the internet had it been fully adapted like it was! It would be eaten alive! But that does not mean I am going to excuse it for censoring things out! I mean what is the point then of choosing this book to adapt if you are not going to take it as it is? What is the point of putting it on a channel like HBO! What is the fuckkin point?!

And once again I have lost myself, forgive me!

Getting back to the car, the first of the two moments I was talking about that we lacked out on having been left out was that we get to see Amma and Camille finally put their stand out there! At first when Camille refuses to take the offered pills that Amma offers her, Amma gets frustrated to which Camille says that surely she doesn’t care that much (about Camille). We get to see why Camille gets so close to Amma because she lets us know how she wanted to please and be accepted by others and really, Amma was the it, she was that most popular girl in school (or here, the whole Wind Gap) and we know no one else seemed to want to get close to Camille for her and neither did Camille put in the effort!

But here she was, eager to please Amma, the girl that interested her to no end but also seemed to want to get close to her even after having a glimpse of what lay under those blob of clothes that Camille wore!

So we get that, why Camille gets close to Amma like she does but then we get another small surprise where a happy Amma leans over and kisses Camille on the cheek after Camille agrees to take the pill! Yeah, sure we got a kiss on the cheek on the show when Amma came over to Camille’s room that night after the shopping trip from hell but it was just…bland! Nay, we even didn’t see it actually happen, we just assumed because of previous experience! Not only could they not even give us a kiss that wasn’t even meant to be a kiss but they couldn’t even give us a kiss on the cheek in peace!

Fuck that!

Ah but wait, we then get the pill scene itself where Amma orders Camille to stick her tongue out, then proceeds to be the one to place the pill in Camille’s mouth, like she was a child that couldn’t feed herself, fully closed off with Amma complimenting her with a ‘good girl’!

Like, this probably doesn’t seem like much but it is everything! Especially given the characters involved here! God, such simple scenes but so compelling! I have lost count of how many hours of my life I have spent being spazzed out thinking of these scenes in a grand context trying to expand upon them! All this was missing in the show!

 

All we got was a flashback a bit later on to when Camille took the offered pill, by her own hand! Talk about unromantic!

The show though does try to reduce the bad taste left behind by this neglect by giving Ammille more scenes at the party! We get a good few moments between the two including close proximities and Camille being drunk in a dancing Amma, not to mention that hug after the ‘not a fuckkin kiss’ scene!

Speaking of which, we finally get to it! The Rolling Roulette scene! The scene that was supposed to rival the tooth scene from The Handmaiden! We all that have seen the show know that is nowhere even close! Well, let me assure you that it might have been, had they gone with what happened in the book!

First of all things just did not happen as soon a Ammille made it to the room upstairs like it did on the show! God, like, did even Camille say a word on the show in that room? Meanwhile in the book, not only was there zero distance between the characters as they were all sitting in a circle on top of the bed, where of course Amma made sure that Camille was sitting right next to her, because she wasn’t about to have her Camille kiss anyone else, but Camille had another battle with herself once again here! It is understandable! Not only was this a real drug this time (ecstasy) but she was about to be swapping saliva with children, Jesus, her sister was just thirteen!

But once again, Camille couldn’t resist and she was a bit high from the previous pills which made that resistance lose! But what is shocking is the fact that she was ready to agree to play the game without a thought but she said no because of the boys’ reaction! They were appalled at the prospect of kissing an old hag that was as old as their Mom!

Okay, let’s stop here and take in a point! Since when have you even seen a movie where guys their age did not have wet dreams about making out with an older and hot woman?! And yet here these boys were turned off by the prospect of kissing Camille! Now let that fact sink in and then think of the fact that Amma did not even have such thoughts! She was all like ‘Please, do it with me!” Like, imagine a girl of thirteen being okay with what boys, bit older than her, found disgusting?! Imagine that girl being not only young but also a sister of that person she was so eager to snog!?

And let’s not even think of Camille, a grown-ass woman, ready to do drugs with her baby sister, using a questionable method of delivery! But ready to do just that she was, and she eventually agreed, which made Amma even more happy and earned Camille a second, that’s right, a second kiss on the cheek!

Fuck it, my pissed mood is back! How dare you take this away from me show?!! Two fuckin kisses on the cheek in the span of minutes of real time and we hadn’t even gotten to the Holy Grail! Seriously, fuck you good!

Then of course we get to the game! In the show shit happened so fast that not even all the players got to play! Remember, in the book Amma had three friends, Kelsey, Kylie and Jodes! There is no Kylie in the show! In fact they replaced her here with another mystery boy, whose name we don’t even know! So, not only did they swap a girl for another boy in the show but even then they did not get all to have a go at the game! I guess one should be happy that we at least got to see Kelsey and Jodes snog as they passed the pill but that fact actually makes me even more pissed off!

Why? Well get this – Those two girls are played by real life sisters! But even with that fact, their ‘kiss’ was much more of a kiss than what we were rubbished with in Amma and Camille! Dear God forgive me but I frikkin hate that shit we got! Like, WTF was that?! And then they were like, here is some particles on Amma’s lips and here is the pill in Camille’s mouth to prove to you that they did indeed swap a pill…

Like, Fuck you and your proof!

And what the fuck was with that hand bullshit!?! I am of course talking about the way Amma pressed Camille’s cheeks in her hand before she came close to pass the pill, like, I have no idea what they were going for that it sucked ass! Fuck that shit! What was so had about zooming into their mouths, showing a tongue with a pill on it touching the pill to the other tongue?! They could have even used complete strangers since we would not see their faces and I would have given a shit! But no, instead we get some kind of air jutsu which Amma uses to pass the pill from her mouth to Camille’s by simple touching their upper lips!

 

 
 

 
 
 

Like, fuck off out of here with that shit!!

Now of course I can see a person that hasn’t read the book scratching their heads wondering what is wrong with what we got, well dear Reader, let me inform you what the problem is…by telling you how that KISS scene went down originally!

First of all, all five present got to play! It started with Kylie, who passed it to the first boy, who passed it to Kelsey, who passed it to the second boy, who passed it to Jodes, who passed it to Amma, who finally passed it to Camille! Before we get to the point I wish to point out that once again the observant Camille was keen to point out how hesitant Jodes was as she put her tongue out at Amma!

I wish to bring it up for two reasons, first Jode’s hesitation shows that she is not comfortable with this hinting at no experimentations going on between the girls! This is quite curious given how so eager Amma seems to be to ‘play’ with Camille! Another reason is that, now that I think of it, Jodes and Amma are kind of shippable in the book! First, if you remember earlier in this post, she grabbed Amma’s breast at one point. Then while I did not mention it, in the car unlike the show, Camille was sitting in the front while Amma and the girls and one boy sat in the back. When Amma had leaned forward in the interactions with Camille, we were told how Amma’s butt was rubbing into Jodes’ face! Her hesitation then during the Rolling Roulette could also be seen as a different kind of nervousness in that she had feelings for Amma nd she was about to lock tongues with her. And then finally there is the scene where she wanted to tag along with Amma and Camille when they decided to head on home afterwards!

Okay, I am ashamed now that I missed this until now! I guess I was too hot for Ammille to care about anything and anyone else >.<

Anyway, going back to the game; here is what happened when Amma passed the drug to Camille! First of all you need to remember that they have not even gone a full round yet, meaning that the pill is not even 80% dissolved yet! Do you have any idea how much power you need to crush a pill with your tongue? It is not easy, almost impossible for most! So remember that then learn that when Amma passed the pill to Camille, it was the end of that round! Not because of some bullshit like the show (why couldn’t they continue? The pill was still solid as day on Camille’s tongue!) but because Amma, as Camille so intimately tells us “tongue soft, and little, and hot, passed the X into my mouth, wrapping her arms around me and pushing the pill down hard on my tongue until I could feel it crumble in my mouth. It dissolved like, cotton candy”

MIND = BLOWN! HEART = PIECES!

I don’t even…It’s been months since I have been reading that part over and over and I still can’t…

Okay, let’s make sense of this by breaking what Camille tells us down!

“Tongue soft and little and hot”

Do you what it takes to have that much feedback!!?! There is no way Camille could tell the size of Amma’s tongue just from its tip touching her own tongue’s tip! It’s impossible! Now a wise cracker might say that she saw it with her eyes but read the sentence again! Camille starts with the texture of the tongue ‘tongue soft’ meaning that these were things she felt within her mouth! It makes sense to feel the softness of it first! To do that, their tongues first of all had to have touched for it to be possible! Secondary once again, the tip of the tongue is actually the hardest point of it meaning that it wasn’t just the touch of tips! She had to feel Amma’s tongue on areas other than the tip to know it was soft!

Tongue soft – Your teeth wouldn’t be able to tell you how soft the other person’s tongue is! The only other part of the mouth that isn’t the tongue would have to be either the sides, the roof or the underside of the tongue! Now read that again and know that for those parts to be touching Amma’s tongue, it had to be moving around Camille’s mouth! And if it’s the tongue doing the feeling, the two’s tongues have to be in a duel for Camille to be able to feel the softness of Amma’s tongue! In other words, they are already in deep snogging territory before we even get to the last part of the breakdown!

And hot – Like, I even need to explain this one? No, I don’t think I do!

The bottom line here is that Amma and Camille, were outright snogging in the book in a scene that promises to be hotness of biblical proportions! God, even the guys that were turned off at the prospect of kissing Camille were left painting and red in the face once Ammille were done eating their own faces off!

But we are not even done yet! That was inside their mouths, but what of the outside? Well, remember this – “Wrapping her arms around me and pushing the pill down hard on my tongue”! Let’s take the first part first – the part about Amma wrapping her arms around Camille!

Once again I ask, what the flying fuck was that shit we got in the series?!!

Who the fuck read the book, saw the hotness of the scene of Amma wrapping her arms around Camille and proceeding to school her in the art of X-snogging, and they sat there and went, you know what, that kind of sucks, let’s change it, let’s have Amma take Camille’s cheeks in her hand and press them so hard she looks as silly as a rubber duck in a baby’s unforgiving hold. That will be better!

Like, fuck you!

 

Shit, I would even taken the option of giving us the hug, filming the scene from Amma’s back and them getting away with feigning the kiss! But noooo, they couldn’t even give us that! Instead they think we will settle for that pitiful embrace after the fuck up…Well, you can actually keep that it! I don’t want it anymore! Like for fucks sake, I found myself shipping Kelsey2 more than Ammille at the time I first watched this scene I kid you not!

Fuck, I am actually getting as pissed off as I was after episode 6 aired! That’s not good, I need to leave this scene before I lose my mind completely! So let’s move on from the Rolling Roulette scene!

And as such, this post has gone on way longer than I anticipated, and I was planning to do the rest of the series with one post! Ha, at this rate that would make a 100,000 word post so let’s break these down as we go, shall we? And really, I don’t think any of you can stand my soured mood any longer, I know I can’t so…until next time, here are some gifs…
