According to Science (*chuckles*) 1 in 10k are the odds of you finding your soulmate. No, no no…Not 1 in 10,000 people! That’s 1 in 10,000 life times!
Yeah, good luck with that! I think Chikane and Himeko are the only ones who have a chance! Or you can just be lucky and your first life is that one magic life where you find them!
Anyway, here we have yet another lovely short-film from the now Master Race of short-films – Korea! It is so short but Oh so lovely! Like, how do they do it? I just can’t get it! The only way you are supposed to pack this much into a piece this short is impossible, outside of poetry!
But Korea do it like it’s a breakfast ritual!
What a cute video! Despite the cloud looming over everything, you just can’t help just feeling fluffy and happy inside watching this! And judging from the preview of the ‘sequel’, there really will be rain!
But that is another bridge to cross, for now let’s just enjoy this little gem of a movie! You know sometimes when you watch a movie and get frustrated because the decisions characters make don’t make sense? But then there are those movies that have characters doing exactly what you were thinking of them doing! Well, this is one such movie!
What I am referring to is when the Crush was going all ‘glass-half-empty’ on our Girl when she brings up the logic of not dating because it will be a hustle breaking up later – Like, first of all, why are you assuming that there will be any break-ups? Family issues or personal experiences perhaps?
See how heavy such a short movie can be? The weight is in what is not said as opposed to what is being said and from the pessimism of the Crush, you can totally understand that she has a history that skewed her views on Love and romance! She is all like, there is no such a thing as Love or soul mates!
Meanwhile our Girl is more optimistic but do not take her for head in the clouds kind of girl! She has a head on her and in fact I choose to believe that she created her own chance with the Crush all on her own, no soulmates card to the rescue here!
Actually, we all that are sometimes afraid to confess our feelings fearing rejection, need to take a page from our Girl’s book! Of course someone you confess too is most usually unaware of your existence! They have every right to reject your advances mostly because they don’t know you and you no little of them! There might be many reasons why they say No but most times the reason can be overcome!
In the case of our girls here, the Crush had a skewed view on life, no, more like on love and if our Girl had just given up initially, she would have missed her chance! But she hang in there and in the end she changed the Crush’s view on things and thus creating her own fate and a chance to have her feelings accepted and returned!
First step was to subvert the Crush’s points of view by playing the life card! I was rolling my eyes at that part and thinking exactly of that comeback so you can imagine my happiness when our Girl did just that! Farther more, she played two more hands to solidify her points and thus rendering the Crush’s points useless when she created her own probability by first slapping the Crush then kissing her (on the cheek)!
Our girl created her own chance and while the sequel looks to play more into the soulmates and lifetimes thing more, I just find this part fascinating as I have never thought of it before! There goes that argument about Fate and Destiny and all that!
Looking forward to the sequel (even if it promises to be painful)!
