That is the question…I found asking myself after I came upon this hidden music video on my drive that I have had since God knows when but for some reason I have never watched!
FAIL!
Those who have been following me know I love Art! I love artistic movies, I love artistic music videos, I simply love art! Music Videos the best because there is a limited amount of time to tell a story so pictures are used to tell most of it almost all the time. Movies have longer runtime and film makers nowadays are scared of their movies being bombarded with incoherent criticisms when they try to tell the story with anything other than dialogue! Only a few brave directors are left which is really sad for us who love art!
But this music video right here, this music video from Garden City Movement for the ‘Move On’ MV is like art sex! And it takes that kind of literally! Okay, chances are that had I even watched this back then when I got it, I probably wouldn’t have written about it because it is too mature! And so sadly, you will have to watch the MV yourselves for the more rated scenes (It really pains me to not post those caps here! They look so beautiful!!)
Just like most MVs, this one too plays with time! By that I mean that the story is not linear! From the very beginning we are already at the end of the story! By that I mean the love is already lost and our blonde girl is already single! You might think of the whole MV as a flashback but even it is not sequential! Almost all parts of their relationship is covered. And I say almost because we don’t get to know why they broke up, well, why the dark haired girl left our dirty-blonde/redhead girl! Did they have a fight? Did the parents get in the way? Did something bad happen? We don’t get to find out but I bet you the answer is in there somewhere but if it is, it is beyond even my level of love for visual story-telling!
Everything else you get though. New feelings, gifting, sneaky touches, seduction, long wanting stares, date, first kiss, couple outings, sex scene, you mention it, it is all there but the break up! And despite the very title even spelling out that there is no HAPPY END here, the MV did not feel that depressing! In fact it was really lovely! And I don’t mean that in the visual sense!
Speaking of visuals, I could stare at this MV for as long as it would take me to drink a whole bottle of Sandman! It is so damn beautiful! And it doesn’t just look pretty! The camera work, the parts that the director chooses to focus on, everything is just so…
And let’s not forget about the music! I still can’t understand a world that is being sang but the music is so perfect for the visual story being told! I am not into this kind of music (only because I haven’t gotten the chance to listen to it and I know it has a name, a genre) but I did not mind it at all! In fact once I find out the type of music it is, I am so going to start listening to it! it is such a mood music!
Anyway, do make sure you check out the MV. There is more that I could not put in here because of the rating!
If you are young or easily offended by mature content, please don’t watch!
