SURAN 수란 – Sad Pain 슬픈 아픔
And yet another awesomely confusing MV! My cup of tea!
Seriously though, those South Korean MVs are beautiful as anything ain’t they! I just want to take then and stuff them in a special place in my heart and lock it away forever!
But confession time first, I have no idea, absolutely no idea, who these girls are, who SURAN is, if they are a band, just one person using the girls as actresses or if the girls belong to a different group or what their names are! I probably can find out with some research but I just watched this and I can’t wait to post it, lest it rest in limbo for eternity like quite a few MVs that went unposted because I let them rot away!
Anyway the yuri here is straight forward so no worries there. You don’t even need them kissing or anything to know they are an item! If you do, may God of Yuri be with you!
What is confusing is the girls themselves. At first glance they both seem to be handicapped in some way. Being together makes up for what they are lacking individually, almost like those special birds – Jiān 鶼, that need another to fly (can’t fly on their own because they have one wing or something – I think I read than in a manga).
One of the girls seems to be blind. The other has some kind of hearing defect! And so they always seem to be inseparable, like the Jian bird where the blind girl of course needs her partner and we see at some point that the partner also gets really bad from time to time and the blind girl in then there to comfort her.
I say ‘seems’, especially in the case of the blind girl, because there is this scene where she stares straight at the camera and you can just know she can see you, and another moment where she sneaks a glance towards her unknowing partner, totally seeming to be able to see her.
I have my doubts about her. Is she just pretending in order to be closer to her partner? What will her partner saw when she finds out? Did she actually already find out? Because there is a moment where they seem to have had a falling out which might suggest that the partner was onto her. This is somewhat supported by the ending scene as they are going to their small house. They turn and look at one another and if the ‘Blind’ girl was really blind, what would be the point of that?!
Anyway, there is a story there, multiple stories in fact and that fact is what makes an MV great! All those possibilities waiting to happen! I am sure that as I type this, there is already thousands of fics about these two in the Chinese and Thai communities! Those two have no equal when it comes to yuri/fandom sizes!
