Yukirin Is Love. Yuri Is Life!

  1. I’ve read the source material before and I was not impressed. It tried to subvert all kinds of body-switching tropes but it failed in the end. The writer didn’t handle the subject matter very well, which is unfortunate because there are so many possibilities with this kind of story. Oh well, it’s a manga we’re talking about after all. Shouldn’t expect the writing to be clever.
The whole dissociative identity disorder/multiple personality disorder wasn’t worked out very well and there were a lot of plot holes. Not to mention that it was a bit too light-hearted for everything that was happening around them. Only watched the first two episodes and it follows the manga perfectly. So nope, not even going to watch it for the minimal amount of lesbian action.

    • Don’t bother with the rest of the episodes. The drama was pure shit. I read some reviews for the manga and all that intelligent meaning was nowhere to be found. Pure shit. I am so pissed off!

More thoughts on this will be coming!

  2. pleaseee
    Where can I find it?
    want to download it!!!
    thanks

  3. This is how I feel most of the time after watching asian tv series/drama. I get false hopes after watching fan made music videos and then had my heart crushed by the actual series. But you know what none of the actual stories actually make sense how they end things. The latest one I watched was Dear Sister….. I kept on watching because to me the big secret was that she loved her sister. Not a sisterly love. THAT would have made sense for all of her actions but no… that’s not the big reveal. Another series was Gisou no Fuufu. Firstly the so called affection/gayness/lesbianism was never really shown or touched upon which led it to feel fake but not as fake as the final ending. It was rather pitiful to say the least. Naomi to Kanako was a little better but even so the way those two were bound together was definitely far more than friends. I’m honestly scared to watch anymore dramas because I’m just going to be disappointed in the end. So glad for The Handmaiden though. It’s proof that they (at least Japanese) can actually make a movie with real people not dolls that barely touch and you can’t believe the emotions that are supposed to be portrayed within the movie/tvseries. What happened to the time of good movies like Spider Lily, The Chinese Botanists Daughter and Lily fever (WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SEQUEL ((CRIES)) I NEED AN ENDING/RESOLUTION/EXPLANATION FOR HOW IT ENDED)? Sigh guess I’m always asking too much to have more quality content on a regular basis.

I almost get the feeling like the East is too scared to leave a drama ending with a succesfully happy end for our lesbian friends so they just plonk a guy in last minute… or even with obvious signs of attraction/chemistry they chalk it up to being good friends. Are they scared of backlash or shows losing popularity?? There’s that Chinese ship Xiaoting and Fan Xi Ya or something like that… They were so popular and probably made the show even more known worldwide. They got a lot of support but what did they do …. in the end it didn’t last even after going through incredibly dumb troubles. I also get the feel that directors and producers use lesbian “ships” as a market play.. They bring us in only to go their own way at the end. It’s just bait for marketing sigh.

Hmmmm I did enjoy Doctor X though even if it had no real anything… but there is always imagination right 😉

    • Yes! Finally, a long comment after what feels like forever!

      Thank you etherie!

Starting from the end, I do love Doctor X too, if only because there are no male love interests being shoved in every other season. Speaking of seasons, have you seen the latest? I am thinking of getting it but I can only find SD quality.

As for that Chinese couple, I have only seen the MVs but even then I could tell that it was going no where!

To tell you the truth, when it comes to dramas, I have no faith nor expectations in China and Japan. I only watch just to enjoy the ships that could be. After all, that’s where FFs come from mostly.

As for movies, all major Asian countries are actually in the game. Sure HK/Taiwan /China hasn’t done anything in the past, like decade or something but Japan, SKorea and Thailand are on the roll.

Lately Japan only seems to do yuri in R rated titles like White Lily, Thailand mostly in Horror, with high expectations for the upcoming The Promise, and of course South Korea with the greatest lesbian movie ever made in The Handmaiden and lately, Our Love Story.

So far Korea is winning and also they gave me my favourite Asian drama The Painter of the Wind whose couple won the one and only Best Couple where both are women!

As for queer baiting, I know all about that. And really, these days it’s all about the business so everyone does it. US, China, and Japan Animation are the worst culprits.

But then again US did give us EMISON so…
