Well, that was most definitely not what I expected!
I actually wondered if there was a connection to the term NTR and after watching this first episode alone, it not only does have a connection but the series fits three out of the seven definitions of the term, from the Urban Dictionary.
Not expected because I was expecting a serious show. Being an OVA (At least that is what it was labelled as) also increased my anticipation. But from the first episode I was kind of let down. It is too self aware and light hearted for the subject at hand and it feels more like fan fiction but that being said, there is an underlying seriously waiting to be awaked in two instances.
As I a sure this is an adaptation, those who are familiar with the source material do please let me know if this is a serious story or not. The fact too that the episodes are less than 10 minutes doesn’t help at all. You don’t do serious project within that timeframe of a episode.
Also I expected better character designs but overall, they are not so bad. And for a change I actually find myself liking the boyfriends. Speaking of, one of the instances I was talking about where the show could get serious is with Hotaru’s boyfriend. I have a feeling he is already feeling suspicious of Hotaru.
Speaking of Hotaru, she is also another instance in that for the moment from what I have seen, she comes off as just having a laugh and Yuma also thinks as much but underneath, with all her talk of what Yuma’s boyfriend would think had he found out that she took Yuma’s first serious kiss (and is planning on being the first to have everything of Yuma’s), I have a feeling that she is harbouring serious feelings for Yuma.
Also, to those who do not know me, I have not a fan of definition No.3 of NTR – Need To Rush. I hate it when I start a story and the couples are already involved. And sure here in the very first episode we already got flirting and deep kissing but thankfully they are not actually already there yet.
Yuma doesn’t have feelings for Hotaru, at least not by this episode. She is only starting to get there as we see here by the end of the episode where she can’t top thinking of Hotaru’s first attempted bathroom smexing and eventually finding that Hotaru’s kiss was better than her boyfriend’s (though to be fair, they only touched lips where’s there was tongue with Hotaru).
At the moment only Hotaru might have feelings for Yuma but not Yuma. But as things are going it seems Yuma is also starting to develop those feelings. And though I would have liked to see Yuma taking longer to develop them, I do understand their need to 3rd Def NTR with the small timeframe they have. At the very least they have not been doing this 1st def of NTR (stealing ur girl behind ur back) even before we meet them!
As for the characters, I kind of like them. Hotaru is a given, with my love of cool, dark haired girls. And as I said, I like the guys too. Hopefully they won’t turn into insufferable dicks down the road, even if the reasons will be justifiable. Heh, who knows, maybe they too will fall for each other. I mean, they could use the cover of being couples when in actual reality, the boys love each other and the girls love each other. Perfect cover if you ask me!
To tell the truth this is too on the nose for my tastes in yuri but I will keep watching. Lord knows when the next episode will drop but I will be there to catch it. Hotaru’s declaration of being Yuma’s first of everything, add in those nudity scenes in the OP, promises for some good times ahead! Episode one she took Yuma’s deep kiss virginity. I wonder what is next!

I’ve been following this manga for a long time, but I don’t want to give any spoiler.
Well… I was let down because of the episode duration too, but seems like a good adaptation. Maybe we can’t ask for more because of the number of manga chapters out and the long time period between each one.
