There’s been a Gay Force awakening. Have you felt it?

Seriously though, I have tried to not pay too much attention to this show, seeing it only as an obligation to my Keyakizaka46 Lord and Saviour Ozeki and a bit of sprinkled shipping suggestions here and there but the latest, 5th episode totally took me from curiosity to full on attention. I am now fully invested.

Obviously this is another of HIS shows and this latest development might just be one of HIS whims that might end up going nowhere (damn you Crow’s Blood, damn you!!!!) but I don’t care! Even if gets lost in the Yasusu void I will still watch for the same reason I started it in the first place. That being said, this new development does bring some much needed fire to the show.

Yes, I have actually been following Keyakizaka since its debut and I already have favourites, like, that is a given, amirite? I might dedicate a post to them later but here are my Furious 6:

1. Ozeki Rika
2. Watanabe Rika
3. Shida Manaka
4. Uemura Rina
5. Nagahama Neru
6. Imaizumi Yui VS Suzumoto Miyu

That 6th spot is a hard one. Actually it’s like the opposite of the the 1st one and how with ease Ozeki trumps everyone else. The gap between the love I have for that girl and the next in line W-Rika is almost at the same ratio as the one between Yukirin and Sakura-tan (Now my 2nd Kami in the 48G after Rena’s Grad). Yes, I am aware I might have done it again, drawing the wrong straw, but I don’t care! Ozeki is love, Ozeki is life! Which of course means that every Keyakizaka post from now on will be Ozeki bias but really, what’s new when it comes to Oshi, eh?

And am I getting off topic here or is it just me?

Let’s kick things off with what finally prompted me to post about this show. Oh yeah BTW, this is a 24min episodic drama starring the Keyakizaka girls set around the murder of their class teacher titled – Tokuyama Daigoro wo Darega Koroshita ka?. I only have up to episode 6 but there might be 7 out by now and it is still on-going.

Obviously the Top girls are the main, with Hirate taking the lead role and the other Top 4 (as picked by management) follow up on her. Though to be fair, other than Hirate, the screen-time is actually divided pretty widely. Speaking of these top 5, that is one concept I really hate about Keyakizaka and it is why I haven’t posted much about them. I wouldn’t otherwise mind it but if you make all your PVs about the Top5 and the other girls all background dancers (if this were anime the rest of the members would be faceless character models) I just, I can’t stand it! They have great songs (as expected from the 46G) but I can’t stand the PVs for this very reason and why I haven’t blogged about them.

And there I go getting side-tracked once again.

So, anyway there came a whole new life into this show in episode 5 when one Neru decided to show up and stir a whole can of trouble, as if the girls were already not in a handful of it already! I also can’t be the only one that thought Neru would be some kind of ghost, right? I so thought she was dead!

Anyway she got onto the scene and things started happening so fast in the shipping department that Amazon would be jealous! Though not the first, the most affected was Watanabe Risa. And in affecting her the chain reaction moved down to Ishimori Nijika. But they were not the only ones affected. Through those flashy transitional fillers, we got to see that a certain lead was also affected, or maybe it is the other way around and it was Neru who was affected?

Anyway, It seems the hardened Risa (or so it had looked until now) has simply more than a soft spot for our ghastly Neru. You wouldn’t be delusional to think that she had feelings for the girl. The scene above in the classroom has her promising to protect Neru from something that we don’t know and neither does Ishimori, who accidentally (is it tho?) oversaw the two.

Just like the sudden revelation of Risa’s feelings, Ishimori’s also suddenly surfaced once she saw the two and while it took some time to click for me, I finally saw it for what it was, and that is that she has it bad for Risa!

But while all that is well and good, the thing is that in all cases, and I mean in all cases, the adoration seems one-sided. Be it know by the other party (Risa’s for Neru) or not (Nijika’s for Risa). The third party in this quadriangle is kind of vague at the moment…

 
 

 

By that I mean Yurina x Neru. It is hard to tell with these two. At first it comes off as one-sided with Neru having a thing for Hirate but then there were those transitional scenes with Yurina being all touchy with Neru in return so what is going on? Are these two a thing but keeping it a secret? Not that Neru is trying hard to make it seem that way.

And so we have Neru who is interested in Hirate but we are not sure where Hirate stands in this. Then we have Risa who is interested in Neru but it seems one-sided by the way Neru denied Risa’s protection (even though she did not protest when Risa jumped in to save her from the gangster. Not that Neru needed saving but its the thought that count, right?). Meanwhile we have Nijika who, though she might not know it yet, also has it bad for Risa. She is losing her mind whenever Risa and Neru do something, or even when they don’t. She already sees an enemy in Neru. Sadly Risa almost hates her and Nijika going after Neru doesn’t help her case with Risa either.

Talk about a complex situation!

No no no…I am not talking about Hirate x Sugai-sama (though I would totally ship it). I mean YuiYui (Kobayashi Yui x Imaizumi Yui).

But that quadriangle is not the only complex situation for my shipping heart. Ozeki is proving to be a problem as well. Of course outside the drama I already ship her with someone (hint: Fairy) but she is proving a challenge in the drama. Thought the best candidate is…

They are both totally hardcore, in their own ways even though at first glance Ozeki would be the bottom and Suzumoto the top, with her fierceness plain to see, Ozeki can also be intense…

Anyway, I am so looking forward to where this new development between Risa, Neru and Nijita go. Probably going to be completely forgotten like it never happened next episode but really, what’s new?

I also want more Ozeki. I have missed her on their show recently and I need my fix. Which reminds me, Ikoma-kun hasn’t been on the Nogizaka show in forever and don’t get me started on Yukirin with the AKB shows. Seriously, what is happening with my Oshi? Do I have that much of bad luck that it oozes through to my Kami and Deities? Why God, why?!
