So, everything, it seems, couldn’t go any better this year. After my cries out for help last time, someone was nice enough to translate the relevant points from that interview. In addition, there is tonnes of videos from Cannes a few days ago, where we get some more lovely scenes of our two ladies, Kim Min-Hee and Kim Tae-Ri.
Looks like the French title is the the exact translation of the Korean one (Why can’t everyone else follow this?). But isn’t it interesting that all titles are about the ladies? For a movie that was seemingly supposed to focus on the male characters more, it still stayed with the important things. The Korean and French titles are about the Lady (Maud) while the English titles are about the Handmaid (Sue). To go with the English title that supports the original story showing Sue as the main character or stay canon as the director intended and go with the Korean?
Decision, decisions…
Whatever the case may be, the verdict is still the same – I want this movie, now! To hell with that ‘Good Things Come To Those Who Wait’ babble! And if we are taking France as the basis, since they will be getting Ahgassi (Mademoiselle – in French) in their theatres in August, if they are showing it in the UK, it will be around the same time? Meaning we can expect a DVD sometime in Jan/Feb next year?
The more I think about the Bluray release dates the more I get depressed so let’s move on…
I want this Behind The Scenes video Mr Park Chan-Wook! Give it to me and I will label you the greatest director in the history of film!
That Tae-Ri tho! Now I know what the director meant when he said that he chose her because she was unique from all the other candidates (1500 or so of them). Even in the interviews, this innocent/gullible side of her comes out!
I really hope this is in the Making Of videos! I don’t care if I have to buy all version; Korean, Taiwanese, French, English, American, I will buy them all just to find this BTS!
Speaking of that interview, cute Tae-Ri cracking under the pressure of one of her first public speeches with major stars surrounding her left and right.
Cuter still is the little show of jealous from Min-Hee, who having spied Jeong-Woo trying to comfort her Tae-Ri, she took matter in her own hands! And dear Min-hee, I noticed that delay from when your hand touched her to when it left! I also noticed that second time that you touched her arm, even though there was no need for it. I am onto you!
~
Jealous Min-hee, a far-cry from the scared Min-Hee in Cannes! Look at her getting scared stepping away from Tae-Ri when she sees Jeong-Woo coming. Meanwhile just as Min-Hee is channelling her inner Maud in the presence of RFR after he finds out that she has fallen for Sue, Tae-Ri is also channelling her inner protective Sue as she calls her Miss back to her.
Meanwhile Jin-Woong, who it seems is actually a pretty chill dude in real life, smirks at Jeong-Woo telling him how he just got P’OWNed! Jeong-Woo is like ‘tch’ while a reporter congratulates Tae-Ri who gets all flustered!
My mousou powers are out of this world!
~
Not that Tae-Ri is impervious to jealousy! After the screening of the movie as the crowd cheers, Min-hee and Jeong-Woo seem to be having a moment but they are interrupted with the scorching gaze coming from Min-Hee’s back courtesy of Tae-Ri! Min-Hee has to turn and nuff the fires with a blinding smile!
~
Poor Mr Park. He has no idea what is going on behind his back right now!
Me: What are you up to Tae-Ri?
Tae-Ri: No Good!
I can do this all day! My mousou game is just getting started! But I have to leave you now. But before I go, here are some more caps from the about events…
~
Dear God, if you are out there:
- Please let this movie come to Irish Cinemas
- Please let this movie come out this year on home entertainment
- Please let there be 4K Blurays of this movie
- Please let the Blurays have ‘that’ BTS
Amen

Tell me about it! Waiting for this movie is going to be painful torture. I am here trying to find something to do to help me forget about the time but nothing is coming to mind!
There is no other movie that is coming out this year to help divert the attention, none that I know of anyway. The closest thing is Elle Fanning’s Neon Demon but my yuri-sense is telling me that is going to be one of those ‘watch once and forget’ kind of movie so it doesn’t count!
Taiwan has been dead for a long time, Japan is lurking, Thailand just dropped 1448 so I doubt they are willing to challenge the silver screen waters any time soon.
As for Tae-Ri, what is there more to say? But if I were to pick one, Min-Hee for me ^^ Haven’t seen her since ‘The Actresses’ so her change kind of took me by surprise but she is still that same woman that captivated me back then.
Anyway, thanks for visiting and commenting am 3.45 ^^ Let’s suffer together in our waiting, for what is already my favourite movie of all time. Heh
