Is there even a need to say more about Mayuki in this day and age?! I think not! But even if the need is not there, I will be damned if I do not talk about them! With BuraGeki (Black x Gekikara) no more, Mayuki is now my Mothership!
That’s right, Mayuki were not my 48G favourite ship before. And that is not just on me. Truthfully, there were more viable ships than Mayuki a couples years back before Majisuka Gakuen! Back then there was just something between Mayuki that stopped them from going all the way. Actually I think separating them (Mayuyu to Team A) was what the Doctor ordered to fully seed their relationship. Before that announcement there was always this invisible wall between them but no more.
And since then they have grown closer as the time passed, which is really strange. Usually when people who are close start building walls between themselves as they grow up/as time passes but not Mayuki! No, they are just taking the opposite direction.
Just look at this opening episode of the 21st season of Nemousu! Mayuki just entered a stadium like that!!! Just, just look at them! And the fact that Mayuyu is the one leading the way, that somehow makes things even more unreal! Looking at them one wouldn’t even think they were the Senpai of the Senpai of the Senpai of the Kouhai!! Somehow they have gotten more carefree as time goes on. of course this is only when they are together, at least in Yukirin’s case I am sure. She still is a responsible Senpai (hence all the idolising by other members) but when with Mayuyu, nothing else matters!

So anyway, this episode returned to something we have seen before, where members try to catch a marshmallow in free fall from 30 meters high with just their mouths. When none of the members manages to catch it, there is of course a penalty. For this group with Yukirin, Mayuyu, Takamina, Yuihan and Juri, the penalty was to rank the five from the cutest to the least cute member. First the members ranked themselves then the results came in from 100 elderly members who were asked the same question.
From the members’ own ranking, they only got Mayuyu right. Juri who was thought to be second (or even first, according to Mayuyu, though Yukirin wouldn’t hear none of that)

Juri ended up being the least cute from the votes which saw her get kinda pissed off

Truthfully I was kind of surprised! Were it any other demography that had been asked I would been like – This is a popularity contest’ but when those asked were elderly people? Well, had to see foul play there.
But any way back to shipping…

Takamina, you so fearless! I know you are graduating soon so no fucks given but still! You can still be killed before graduating you know! Right in front of Mayuyu! Right when Mayuyu just made a statement from the very first time they entered the stadium! You sure got some balls Ex-Souchan! Hell, even Souchan (Yuihan) knows when not to play this game!
BTW, I’m not complaining. Not in the least! I ship TaaYuki too so just having fun ^^

Before I get onto MaYuki I first want to mention YukiMina (or whatever you want to call them) and how I love seeing them together, there is something about their dynamic which makes them stand out, especially as far as Yuki ships go, maybe it’s because Yuki for once is the junior member in the pairing or maybe it’s because when you get down to it, for all the respect they have as great senior members they are basically a couple of dorks. Whatever it is they have this lovely dynamic and as Takamina’s graduation approaches I wish we got see more of them then we did, I hope we see more of them in the time they have left together (with that live TemoDemo at Takamina’s graduation concert please!)
You summed up MaYuki pretty well yourself so not sure how much to go over it myself, other than it always amazes me how they effect each other, I mean as individuals they are totally different people compared to when they are together, it doesn’t matter if it’s stages, shows or concerts their dynamic changes completely when they are together, for that to happen to anyone is pretty amazing, for it to happen to two idols in and AKB situation is downright astonishing!!
As for what you said about their relationship I think age is actually been a big thing, I mean since Mayu got older you feel as though they “Mamarin” dynamic to their relationship has gotten less, obviously it’s still there (as is that age gap) but as Mayu has become a young woman they have changed into the MaYuki they are today and really it’s been a privilege to watch them grow together 🙂
Lastly, that moment when Yui dropped Juir like a bad habbit when Yuki went to stand next to her (https://blackgekikaramiso.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/takayuki.gif) I swear if there ever has been a true rival to MaYuki it might well turn out to be YuiKirin (SasshiYuki is a different beast) You go and watch anything they have done together, like the J-Wave Hangout they recently did and tell me otherwise, there certainly is something between them that lifts them above the usual ships and places them as a MaYuki rival!!
