So, since Nogizaka released a collection of all their PVs in true awesome Blu-ray Quality, I figured that I might just as well post something about those PVs that were somewhat relevant Some I have already written about here, others I might not have.

Inoue Sayuri x Ito Marika x Saitou Asuka

First up is Ano hi Boku wa Tossa ni Uso wo Tsuita.

This is a coupling PV that was part of the 10th single, which was also Ikuta Erika’s first Centre. The main relationships in here are between Marika, Sayuri and Asuka, mainly Sayuri and Marika!

I have to confess that even to this day I am still confused about the relationships here, you know, to me as a shipper. I still can’t quite place the actual feelings between these three. At face value, Sayuri is just a best friend to Marika, who knows what Marika is going through and is there to support her until the end and comfort her when she is down. Also on the surface it seems like Marika is only jealous of Asuka. Don’t really know the context but I would think that Marika is an Senpai who the others thought was more suited for the main role but as fates would have it, Asuka was chosen.

But even with the reality o things, she still supported Asuka, helped her with her preparations (costumes) but behind everything, she was still jealous. Asuka wasn’t oblivious to the reality of things too. She felt like the role wasn’t meant for her and even ran away for a time, in turn giving Marika a chance to take over.

But Marika didn’t take it. It was her chance to have that role she had craved so much and probably meant the world to her but she did not take it. She thought of the hard-working Asuka and how she tried to live up to expectations. Was she really going to take that away from Asuka?

I guess without knowing she had come to care for the girl, meanwhile Asuka too knew just how much Marika wanted that role and she seemed like the best choice to take it so she had given up and ran away but Marika came for her. Asuka still ended up taking the role but Marika still felt the loss of that chance of a life time. That last scene of the flashback was just heart-breaking as Marika broke down and Sayuri had to comfort her.

Oh yeah, this was all in a flashback that Sayuri was having before her graduation as she reminisced while holding onto a script that Marika had used those days. I guess Marika transferred school?

It was such a touching PV. I just hoped it would have explored Asuka’s side more. There was something there for Marika in her I am sure. There is this look she gave Marika when she was helping her with the costume that just makes me squeal!

The second single of Nogizaka’s. This is the main PV and I remember being surprised when Kana was so prominent but then again, that was a very long time ago! Sasshi too actually appears in this PV as one of the teachers, I think but she was in like, for three seconds at most.

Anyway, this is kind of tricky of a PV because if I got it correct, Kana broke THE rule and her condition did not board well with what it insinuated but the fact that Ikoma-kun led a coup d’etat against the rules to save Kana from expulsion, not to mention those lovely flashbacks, I was shipping this hard.

But it wasn’t just Ikoma-kun and Kana. Knowing what we know about Sayuri(ngo) and Mai(yan), that ship stood out to me like a sore thumb so of course I had to count it as well.

Butt not just them, I did notice something between Kana and Manami and even though she said it was down to her being the class rep, I doubt it. Kind of reminds me of the Sayuri x Marika from just before.

SHAKISM!

The mother of PVs SHKISM! This PV dear Readers, this goddamn PV! I had thought that I had watched it to death back in the day when it had come out as a coupling to the 5th Single, which also happens to be my all time favourite A side of Nogizaka’s – Kimi no Nawa Kibou!

OMG, but deduction I just realised this makes the 5th Single my favourite to date. That is saying a great deal since Nogizaka has almost a perfect record when it comes to releasing great songs, even the coupling songs are leagues above AKBG’s A sides! It’s pure madness!

Back to the PV, what more is there to say that hasn’t already been said in the original post and posts there after?! It has my favourite N46 couple, has dozens of other ships, has danso, has sci-fi –

By the Gods!

There are a lot of times in the past where I have thought about making fics about this PV but I always stop myself because I don’t think I would do it justice! This PV hit me so hard it warped my reality on things! It ran over Guru Guru lesbians, buried it six feet under, built a tarmac road over it and then placed a landmark on top to hold that place as the King and it still stands even to this day!

Yeah, to conclude – I frikkin love SHAKISM!

Ikoma-kun and Minami-chan were frikkin perfect as a couple in this! I have never in my life shipped something so cute! Jesus! For a PV that was just too short at 5min especially given the fact that Nogizaka can do 10min PVs, the character development was surreal! Especially Ikoma-kun, who went through a Shonen change that takes seasons of an anime within the span of minutes!; from a wimpy cry baby to one badass mofo that can stop bullets with his bare hands!

Seriously yo >.<

And then there is the legit honest to Akuma Homura SayuriMai in this as well! The bro-love between Mai and Ikoma-kun was so great as was her rivalry between her and the student council president Iku-chan, who I know definitely had something going on with Secretary Manatsu! And there is the other kind of rivalry between Ikoma-kun and Reika, the love rivalry!

Shiraishi Mai x Nishino Nanase

Ima, Hanashitai Dareka ga Iru

God, I am such a sucker for stories like this! Seriously, this is one of those stories that has so much potential for fics! This is of course the A side of Nogizaka latest and first W Centre single!

On one side we have Nanase, a deaf girl who has had a hard time since childhood whose life changes when Mai (and the girls) come crushing into her life, changing it. She has found a place to belong outside of her family only she can’t keep it because they are moving to overseas!

God, such a sucker I am all watery eyed and stuff!

This time it is not the couple that I am into, since I don’t ship these two, but rather the story of the two. It just hits home with me, this and others of its kind!

 
 
 
 
 

 
 
 
 

 
 

Ikoma Rina x Nishino Nanase

Taiyou Knock!

Well, I can assure thee that I did not see that left hook coming! Lost a few teeth but I can live without them!Ikoma-kun and Nanase?! I sure as hell wasn’t’ expecting that one to happen in this life time but here we are!

This single is the 12th and Ikoma-kun’s return to her rightful place as Centre after 6 singles of hiatus! I had honest given up on her returning despite the fact that they are still using her as the Face of Nogizaka! Least of all for her to be with Nanase! All of this after episodes of her making her lover she holds for Nanase well known and then BAM! I guess the guys in charge were actually watching and listening.

Either way, not only did Ikoma-kun get a present to Center again but she got another with her being paired with her love Nanase! No qualms at all here from me! I totally ship this couple and I would eat up more of them given the chance!

Once again though, this was another short PV, compared to the other story-wise PVs, I mean! I sure as hell wanted to know more of what went on in that scene under the tree, which I call their special place!

A coupling of the 4th single and would I be wrong if I said ‘Kana you lucky girl!’? Seriously, she was on fire during what I like to call the Ikoma dynasty (1st to 5th singles).

Matching rings? Bubble-gum kisses! Kisses on the cheek?! You betcha this was gonna be included! To think that that Kana had both Itous to herself!! Damn lucky girl!

From the 7th single Baretta, centred by the 2nd gen and my Nogi No.2 Hocchan (Hori Miona). This was a theme in Naruto and while that is awesome in and of itself, it wasn’t enough. Nogizaka threw in a PV that had a skeleton for a huge story and potential abound of ships to accompany the forbidden love between the Princess and her bodyguard!

I wish Hocchan’s character wasn’t so mysterious! yes I know she is literally known as the Mysterious Beauty but still, I wanted o know her story! What made her so badass to take out a room full of ninjas and samurai?! What was her connection with our main Ninja? Why did Master Reika betray the kingdom to have the Princess assassinated?!

So, Nanase in apparently a Tanpopo. Makes sense!

So, A side of the 8th single and Nanase’s first shot at Centre that was so successful that she is the 2nd in rank to the amount of centred singles next to Ikoma-kun. And of course they once again had to go with the tear jerker!

I challenge anyone to tell me they did not cry in this PV! If you didn’t, where is your soul dear Reader? Didn’t you see how Mai, a person who seemingly didn’t like Nanase, didn’t you see her risk her health to shelter Nanase’s soul (The Tanpopo from the rain)!! How could that not hit you!?

But to extend on those two, there was Ikoma-kun, who wasn’t afraid to get into Mai’s face to stand up for Nanase. On the other hand there was Nanami as well, who is like the friend that keeps their real feelings hidden as they watch the other two’s relationship unfold.

Actually Mai and Nanase’s relationship here reminded me of the generic rival who is actual very caring towards the girl, usually the heroine, that she seemingly hates but in actuality, she totally loves and is very protective of them.

Nishino Nanase x Wakatsuki Yumi x Sakurai Reika

Basically the shipping wars btn the Management preference and the Fans preference! The Management being the Yumi/Nanase while the other is obvious! And even after al this time I am still not sure who won that battle! Sure Nanase got a kiss but she also left Yumi’s life. Reika did not get a kiss but she had the rest of her life to get one. Ahhhh

Coupling song to the 9th single and hopefully putting an end to the trend of pairing up Yumi with Nanase instead of real life waifu Reika, this was the PV that almost rivalled SHAKISM! Were it not for that ending, it would have had a very close chance too but I just simply despise those kinds of endings! You know, the one where they make it clear this is it for a couple!

Seriously though, my preferences aside, this was such gold! That scene at the pier when the kiss took place!! Nanase saw Reika standing there before she went for the kiss! She saw her and yet she still went ahead and kissed Yumi!! Talk about balls! The feelings in that scene were just off the charts!

But then again, from the scene we got of Yumi and Reika, they did not seem to have that kind of relationship. Maybe Reika did have feelings for Yumi, hidden feelings but Yumi did not know about them. Maybe Reika herself hadn’t labelled these feelings before that moment. One thing is for sure, after that moment, she most definitely knew them! You could see it in her eyes!

But what about Yumi’s reaction to the kiss thou? I leave that discussion for another time!

Coupling to the 2nd single, this PV brings us the kiss of death in the form of vampires, being turning into which, turns you into a badass punk girl! And while all that is gold material, the yuri takes it on another entirely different level!

Did I mention that I miss this girl? I so miss this girl so very much! I was really invested into her and Marika and was so looking forward to seeing them rise together like Marika has been recently. They were just so good together and this PV was about them!

Oh man, I so wanted to enjoy this PV again at the same level that I had before but better since it is in glorious HD now but with the lack of Nene, well, let’s not go there!

A story of a couple surviving the apocalypse, a vampire apocalypse, though really they looked more like zombies that sucked blood than vampires!I seriously Japan, I am disappoint! I expected this kind of shitty vampires from China not you!

China is the one that doesn’t have a distinction between zombies and vampires but then again, movies like Vampire Warrior show that China can do actual vampires. then again that was not exactly China but the point remains…

Anyway for two people to fight to survive then once finally getting caught and compromised only for the other to sacrifice themselves to their companion…such love is also very transient and I loved it! Made my love for Itou² hit sky high!

 

 

 

 
 
 

 
 
 


 
 

Shiraishi Mai x Hashimoto Nanami

Coupling to the 11th single, this one brings the other side of yuri that is rarely explored, though it actually been been looked at before! I am of course talking about that sweet heart from your teem years who decides to show up when you have managed to put your life together, moved on, only to bring chaos to that stability making you start second guessing your life!

Mai just went and did that to Nanami!! After coming into her life un-invited, making Nanami fall for her and then leaving, she comes back later in their years with Nanami already with a kid, to fuck up her life! Then again, was Nanami so satisfied with her life? Maybe she is a single mother! Who knows? Either way the way Nanami welcomes Mai back like she thinks Mai is not gonna be going any where ever again makes me think that she was ready to take on heaven and hell if it meant having Mai into her life again!

Actually this hit me in the nice spot, despite the fact that Nanami had a kid. It was obvious that the two were very broken when they parted and they did not look that happy with their proceeding lives without the other so I guess I can see where their life together is headed!

The way that the director chose to focus on the kid who was studying Mai in that way made me think of the possibility that…Nah, they can’t be that good! No director is that good!

Either way, this actually made me totally ship this couple! It really hit home! Kind of like the other side of the Yumi/Nanase story from Mukuchi na Lion, huh?

Talk about making an Entrance!

This is Nogizaka’s very 1st single and what a way to make your presence known! I was instantly hooked onto this group (and Ikoma-kun) the moment I saw this PV! I have already written about it so if anyone wants more about this, a quick search here should get you to the original post!

Also I have no idea how this happened, that this was the last PV I wrote about. I mean surely out of all the titles here, this is not the last one on the list, as far as the Japanese alphabet is concerned! I had files sorted by filename (in their Japanese titles) and this came out last.

Anyway even in Black and White this thing looked beautiful. Seriously, I don’t know who they hire for these MVs but Nogizaka management know what the hell they are doing!

The Lily World behind the curtains! I have looked myself and yet to find one but I am satisfied with the one in this PV! It is great to look back now, knowing all the girls in the PV when I did not know a whole bunch of them then!

Because why the hell not?! This is only my favourite Nogizaka song ever! My whole heart melts every time I listen to this song! It’s simply magic! Yasusu really outdid himself with this one!

And this PV just took the already Godly quality of Nogizaka’s videos to the upper level, which is frankly, madness! So beautiful!!! And before the 12th single, this 5th single actually had another emotion attached to it. Before the 12th, this was Ikoma-kun’s last single! But then she came back, with the 12th, even though without her waifu Minami-chan and right hand man Iku-chan!

And really, I don’t care what anybody else says, Ikoma-kun is the face of Nogizaka! Screw popularity! If being a Yukirin Oshi has taught me anything is that being the most popular girl isn’t all that meaningful!
