How much for that sex tape? My soul? Take it! Take it!!!!!!!!
If you thought of Samaritan Girl, raise your glass!
Episode 4 – I can’t believe this girl!
Jang Serang, the best damn character of 2015 in all media! I can’t believe this girl! If it weren’t for the fact that I just learnt her name, I would have been lost as to where to start regarding these two episodes because, da~mn!
Okay, first before I weep all over these two episodes and how awesome they were, how grand a character Serang is, I have to address some things – Serang’s name and her history with Kyung-ju!
I have to confess that when I was watching the prologue, I didn’t heed the subs any attention because I didn’t think that they mattered. What I wanted from that was for it to sell me and give me a glimpse as to what was coming in the actual episodes and I gotta confess, I was in the hurry to get to episode 01 and really, not all prologues/episode 00s are that important to the overall story. So I skimmed through it and while I might have seen Serang’s name during my second watch after one of my lovely readers pointed it out (thanks for that BTW J) you have to admit that you might not have paid it attention at all. Serang appeared for like a second and she didn’t come off as important and also I didn’t recognise her during the first watch so I didn’t pay that girl with shades any attention.
That’s why I missed her name then!
Then there is the history of Kyung-ju and Serang. Indeed they do tell us even in these very episodes that Kyung-ju knew Serang before because they were both in the same training academy I guess? But it is the level of knowing that in essential here. She might have known her, that doesn’t mean that she was close with her! In fact I doubt that they even talked at all. I think it was more like a classmate relationship! And from what we heard in episode 5, Serang was one of the popular, if not the most popular to hit it big while Kyung-ju was, as she says it, the Peter Parker of the Idol world! In other words, they were of different worlds and I don’t see them having ever exchanged even a word at all. There is more evidence but more on that later.
So let’s begin with episode 4 when Serang teleports into Kyung-ju’s workplace owned by one of the major characters we saw kiss another character in the promos! Her name is Jaegal! Just like who we have already met, she too is promising to and is in fact already looking to be an interesting character. She most definitely hasn’t displayed any of the tropes of ‘Onnie’ in her age gap and really, I doubt she will. This show was constructed by the gods themselves after all! There is no room for errors!
Hell, even the two other male characters we meet this episode, who get chewed up, spit out and then stepped on by the godly Serang, even they demanding some attention from me! And from the skeletons of the story that are starting to come together in my mind, I have a feeling that if I am not wrong, those two will play a major part later on! Should I tell you about my specular? Here goes…
There is this vision I am having of this show and where it is going to go. While it might look like it will be a fun and light hearted show for now, you can’t be sure. Let’s not forget, this is still a Korean show! That means there’s gonna be drama! Yes, yes, it is doing great and some might hope it stick to this all through the episodes but this is still a show for people and if they have that many shows, if not all that have drama, you know this one is going to have some too.
I understand if you disagree, this is only speculation after all. But let’s say it does go deeper than just being awesomely gay, I have seen signs of something and this something is that Kyung-ju, Serang and others will form an Idol group. Think about it! Kyung-ju and Serang are both fall-outs, the ones that didn’t get to debut! Serang apparently had a highly superior chance of being a major hit but we all know how she is and apparently she had different ideas for her career which backfired on her. Kyung-ju meanwhile didn’t make it because, well, simply put, she didn’t have it! But both of them are still within the circles, they have connections to their mates who are already Idols.
So, there you have these two girls who are still looking for a chance to break out of their egg-shells and yes, I am pretty sure they are still hoping. Kyung-ju is a no brainer, she has said it herself. As for Serang, in episode 5, as she tell her story, you can see it in her face that she has regrets. She most definitely has the passion. For crying out loud, her dream was for the Idol industry itself. So then, you have these girls, who might know others who did not make it as well or know those who did but might switch teams (Eunsook, I am looking at you).
You have them then there comes these two guys who are obviously integrated into the business world! They know the back-bone of the Idol industry so those two have the management/agents side covered. Or maybe Jaegal herself could be the direct manager of the girls themselves! See, the skeletons are there to start an Idol business/group! I just have a feeling that this will happen, if the show decides to go deeper!
Now of course ,I am one of those who want it to continue like it is. Hey, if it ain’t broken, don’t go fixing! Of only AKS knew this little bit of advice! Panicking and immediately starting the Next Gen thing right after Acchan leaves, that was three years ago and nothing has come of it! They have Mayuki, who are more than capable of taking over as the leads instead of AtsuYuko but did they make use of these great assets? HA! HA! And now they are at the point of not even using that card!
Sorry, sorry, I always get side-tracked!! Why?!
So anyway, when Serang appears like she had just been beamed down by Scottie using Kyung-ju’s co-ordinates, Kyung-ju is surprised that Serang was able to find her, not even at her home but her place of work (unless she stays there as well?). Serang, it turns out, used the match box that Kyung-ju had left at her place to find it. Now, call me stupid but who really finds a place based on a box of matches?! How do you even decide to use them in the first place?! Can you imagine a girl like Serang searching her place for a clue as to how to find Kyung-ju? Why even did she want to? How did she know it was Kyung-ju’s matches in the first place? How did Kyung-ju misplace it anyway? She doesn’t smoke! It’s not like she took it out of her bag, deposited it somewhere easy to find as a souvenir or something then ran off! Did she run off the morning after? Serang didn’t seem mad so…
Was it the soul-mate thing they have going on? Did Serang use her strange connection to Kyung-ju that enables them to read the other’s thoughts and feelings, and after this episode their memories too? These two are getting stranger by the episode and yet that is exactly what is making them so interesting.
Then, then, Serang hit! I swear to all the gods that have ever existed – this girl is something else! Forget the Serang you saw in the first three episodes! This is a whole different being! 4D? I think not! That would imply that she was human but with an extra something! Serang is no human!! If she is then she has a gazillion extra somethings! My goodness this girl! Why do I have the feeling that she is going to have a whole different personality the next batch of episodes?
Those faces! Jesus!
Dem refs tho >.<
Just as suddenly, love confession
Episode 5 – I can’t believe they had sex!!!!!
All ye gods that are listening, please help me! I can’t…
They had sex!
They touched here, they kissed there!
THEY DID A BUNCH OF EROTIC THINGS TOGETHER!!
I…give me a moment please while I try to rinse my mind of all these dirty thoughts that are boiling up every second! I…I can’t believe they had sex!
They may have known each other, well, she only said she knew Serang from before but she didn’t say that they were exactly that acquainted and in fact Kyung-ju herself says it twice herself here that Serang doesn’t know her! The first time was when Kyung-ju got mad that Serang fabricated her story twisting it and telling it to the guys in episode 4 (They left the shop by then end of that episode by the way). The other time was when Serang confesses that she likes Kyung-ju a lot to which Kyung-ju incredulously replies that they only met!
See? While Kyung-ju might have known Serang from their training days, she might as well have been a fan who only get to see their idol from afar! Serang was probably at that level where her mere presence demanded attention from onlookers. But is Kyung-ju really that much of a Peter Parker? What if she was Peter in the sense that she was the Peter to Serang’s Mary Jane?
By that I mean of course that what if she felt a pull towards Serang without even knowing it? What if their lives are already connected and Kyung-ju already felt this connection but didn’t know what it was? I mean she had a boyfriend that that didn’t stop her from paying this mysterious girl, Serang, attention. Kyung-ju was aware of the connection but Serang wasn’t, not until she actually saw Kyung-ju for the first time in episode 1. Kyung-ju feels it but she hasn’t made sense of it, meanwhile, Serang with her mysterious powers (he, she is super at this point) immediately made sense of everything as soon as she met Kyung-ju!
I mean come on, even as off-kilter as she is coming off, if Serang was the kind of girl that jumps people after just meeting them, she would have painted a whole different picture here with the guys, hell, with Jaegal if anyone is thinking that maybe she is only into women! So what is this business of not only kissing her multiple times but going all the way to final base with a girl she just met mere hours?!
They are soul mates, maybe even from another life! I mean really, Serang literally reads Kyung-ju’s thoughts and from this episode we see that Kyung-ju herself is beginning to show signs! The exact moment is when Serang is trying to reason with her as to why she used her story. She uses Bob Marley as a ref but it turns out she quoted the wrong artists, it was Bob Dylan. But even though Kyung-ju corrects her of this mistake, she too is very surprised because she shouldn’t know that! So how did she know? Did she read Serang’s feeling and what she was trying to convey and then correct her?
Serang uses that as ammunition as she says that they may only have met yesterday but they know each other so well and knows Kyung-ju so well and loves her so much that nothing else should be of concern. And she does have a point! So what if they only became Facebook friends (chuckle) just the day before? Serang knows what Kyung-ju thinks, and she too is starting to feel that connection! For crying out loud, they have already had sex, following an intense make-out session that Kyung-ju contributed to. Really, Kyung-ju should be asking herself why she even had sex in the first place! She has to know she isn’t the type of girl to go sleeping with anyone. There is a reason. it is quite simple but I am awaiting the road ahead where Serang fights on to convince Kyung-ju of their love!
That reveal tho >.< And Kyung-ju’s reaction, Good Lord! Poor Jaegal too, she was witness to a conversation she must have definitely not wanted to hear! But as it seems, she totally approves as just like the rest of us poor viewers, she is totally taken with that gem that is Serang!!!
I love that girl!!!
Get here already Tuesday, why won’t you!!!

Why can’t Europe import dramas like these instead of the crappy ones is beyond me… Also why do the characters break the 4th wall by saying what the critics would say? This drama is crazy. ;-D
