So, is anyone watching the new Scream series? The first episode just aired and I could not help but fall prey to the bait that is going so hard in that episode. Oh yes, by scream I mean the Scream – ‘Ghost Face’ Scream. To me that is the best teen slasher to ever exist! ‘I Know What you Did Last Summer’ is like six seconds behind it! So, while it is no secret that I love horror genre that is not why I am talking about this.

I was really surprised when the episode all but opened with two girls making out in a car at night! The video was in a queue and I had watched a couple of other videos before getting to it so when I got to this episode and was bombarded by that scene, I went blank wondering what the hell I was watching since I did not have any lesbian show I knew of in the queue. The kissing was happening in a video that was being spread all over the internet. It seems someone filmed the girls in secret. I was really surprised by that kissing scene, nay, it was much more than kissing. That was all out smexing! I tried to think of a time when there was yuri in the movies and I came up blank. Was I watching a different Scream franchise?

My mind was set straight when the slashing commenced only a minute later! The victim? The girl that uploaded the video! She was not the one that filmed them but she was the one that spread the video all over the internets. Not gonna lie and say that I was sad seeing her go first! That ‘Heads Up’ scene was pure gold by the way.

The reason I am mentioning this show is that there is a lesbian in the cast! Best of all she is not in the closet and in fact already has a girlfriend (the one she was smooching in the car). So we are saved all the drama and the bad baiting! We only get the good baiting this time around. The lesbian, Audrey (is) was best friends with the main heroine, Emma. So I was hoping for her to not die so early on in the first episode and a quick check on IMBb confirmed that she has the same number of episodes on her list as Emma.

That fact made me so giddy! To think that I am going to be seeing these two every single episode! I need to go to the temple and prepare myself both body and mind! I just know that I am going to be in for a world of pain with these two! As I said these two were really close and we have yet to learn what happened to split them. I am sure we will learn the reason eventually and I am in no hurry.

The main girl Emma has already been with two guys this first episode! The first one, that I shall refer to as Boy1 (since he came first) is her boyfriend, well, earlier in the episode. Emma’s talkative friend kind of spilled the beans unintentionally that Boy1 was having an affair with the dead girl. Emma dumped his sorry ass but not even an hour later she was making out with the new sexy Boy3 in town! I wasn’t even that surprised because I just knew as soon as I saw him in class and heard that he was new to town! These things are just predictable, you know…And yeah, Boy2 is the best Boy as he is friends with Audrey but with that twist at the end, I don’t think he deserves a name, yet!

So, Emma is straight, in case you couldn’t tell from all the het scenes shoved down our throats but here is the thing, the way she acts with Audrey is right out suspicious! In fact through the whole episode she was the Reina to Emma’s Kumiko! She was the one that approached Audrey in all their confrontations and Audrey was the disinterested one, which was kind of strange. You would think that Audrey being the lesbian would have Emma on her mind and maybe an incident that might have been her falling in love with Emma, is the reason that they fell apart but it did not look that way. It was as if Emma was the one crushing on Audrey!

Yeah, good luck me convincing that to the community! Not even gonna try so I will just say it as it is. Their first talk (in the show) comes the next school day after the murder. Emma’s friends organise a party (apparently as a send off for their dead friend) and as Emma is doing the girlfriend thing, you know making out with Boy1, she catches sight of Audrey! I was amused at how she managed to see her all the way over there! Unless she had the Audrey radar in her head, the chances of that are close to zero.

She immediately separated from Boy1 and goes over to intercept Audrey! They greet each other. Then they awkwardly stare at each other. Well, Emma is the weird one of the two as Audrey just looks on with zero interest. Emma then invites her to the party. Audrey tries to decline saying that she was grounded because of the leaked video. But Emma did not give up. I guess it is from experience from their previous friendship but she continues on giving Audrey the time of the party and the place like she just knew Audrey would show up.

And yeah, Audrey did show up at the party and of course everyone was all over her case as if she was some kind of historical artefact on display. She brought Boy2 along and he did try to play the hero by being there for Audrey but he was just one of those guys that would be eaten alive any day. Interestingly he managed to grab the attention of the cute Asian girl! That lucky son of a….

Not feeling welcome Audrey grabs a bottle of Jack and escapes to the side of the pool to enjoy some girl booty (I am kidding of course). After some time Emma walks over to her and the two have a friendly moment. They talk about something that reminds Emma of how she and Audrey used to be in the past to which Audrey replies;

“Yeah, but then you got pretty.”

Emma’s reaction here was unexpected. The way she smiled, so brightly I swear she was floating on cloud nine. As if catching on what that might mean given her coming out, well forced coming out, Audrey tries to clarify that she did not mean it that way – that she liked Emma or anything.

Again, Emma’s reaction!

This was the scene that confused me and made me ship the two right away! Audrey really did not seem like she was hitting on Emma. In fact so far she seemed less interested in Emma than Emma was in her. Oh God, what if this time it is the reverse? What if Emma is the one who was actually in love with Audrey? What if she was jealous of Audrey’s girlfriend? That might be why she decided to go ahead and film Audrey in the car. I mean being a friend that she thinks she is, even if it was in the past, she could at least draw the line at having a hand in outing Audrey’s secret. But she went ahead and did it!

Oh sorry, I am going ahead of myself there. At the party, later in the night, Boy2 finds himself stripped naked and left on a log in the middle of the small lake that was close to the house they were having a party at. He tries to swim back to the party but something grabs his leg and he almost drowns. Thank the Lord Emma and Boy 3 (yes, they were already making out right after Emma breaks up with Boy1) were close by and Boy3 goes and helps Boy2 out of the water. Audrey thinks that it was Emma’s friends that had pulled the prank and leaves the party with Boy2 very angry with Emma.

Later we finally get to see Audrey’s girlfriend when the two are talking and Audrey is telling her about the party and what she had missed by not going. I guess Audrey asked her first but she declined then she asked Boy2. I learn that this relationship won’t last because the girlfriend did not go because she was scared after they were outed. That is a very bad sign! I don’t think that she will get over this fear any time soon. Actually I don’t even think that her face was filmed in the video and yet she was that terrified. I have a bad feeling about this, especially since Ghost Face was watching them during this scene and since Audrey is guaranteed to be here for at least ten episodes, well…

The third time that Emma and Audrey get to talk, it is once again Emma who initiates the contact. This time she comes over to Audrey’s place, all dressed up nicely by the way, and when she stood there in front of Audrey, I could not help but think that she was showing off to Audrey!

Too bad things did not go according to plan. That plan being that she would come clean about the incident (Audrey being outed) and at the end of it all get a date with Audrey. She came prepared all dressed up nicely just for that date. But like I said, things did not go according to plan. Audrey did not take the fact Emma was the one that filmed her well. Add in the fact that she thought Emma was trying to get back together out of guilt then well, things pretty much went to hell.

I have to say that I did not dig the way they made Audrey react in that scene. I felt it was too strong a reaction. She called Emma a bitch! Unless there is a side of Emma that we have yet to see, and by that epilogue dialogue we learn she has secrets, Emma is a good girl. They have been friends in the past so Audrey should know who Emma really is. To call her a bitch with such passion especially given that she was actually the one that uploaded the video, well, I felt like the scene was just so badly handled. Then again it might be a generation thing. These days curse words are part of everyday slang so…

Poor Emma was in tears as she left Audrey’s house. To think that she was that affected when they were not even that close currently. I swear with every scene that happened I felt like Emma was harbouring some deep feelings for Audrey. How else could she be that affected by a single word? This is a girl that did not cry after she found out her boyfriend was cheating on her! But she cried when Audrey, a girl that she wasn’t even close with anymore called her a bitch.

She really had plans for that date, eh?

I was curious about this show because of the horror but now it totally has my attention because of the yuri and the bait! Murica has just legalised same sex marriage (Just a reminder that we, Ireland, did it first) so while the first ten episodes have probably already been filmed, maybe if Audrey lives past those episodes she will get a chance with the MC?

Probability of that happening in almost none but I am all over this ship! I will board it alone if I have to. I am sure others are more interested in the actual couple of Audrey and her girlfriend but who am I, if I don’t ship the un-shippable?
