Finally! I have finally caved and watched this drama because the wait for Sae-ron is killing me! That ‘A Girl at my Door’ Bluray just isn’t getting here any time soon and I needed my fix so then I remembered Panda saying that Sae-ron was in the Korean version of ‘Jyoou no Kyoushitsu’ and I was like, gotta watch that now! So I did and dear Lord! As far as yuri is concerned, I take this over the original any day! If this took place in say, High School, Ha-na and Bo-mi would be one of the greatest yuri couple ever! But will understand if many stay in denial because of the characters’ age and that is why you have probably not seen anyone mention this couple despite it being freakin awesome!!!
If you have not watched this yet dear Reader, for the love of yuri you have got to watch it!
‘The Queen’s Classroom’ is basically the exact same story as the original Japanese drama that aired way back in 2005 (Holy, that’s a decade ago! Jesus!!) Some scenes are the exact copy from the original but with different characters. But despite the same overall plot, the execution and the road to finish is different. First of all the Korean version is 16 (1hr) episodes long! That is way different from the original’s 11 (45m) episodes!
That length meant that they had space to expand on the characters and friends, did they expand on characters! Starting with the Queen herself, strangely I actually feel like her story was cut short from the original. In the Japanese version, the teacher was the main character, no arguments! Here though in the Korean version, the students were the main characters and the Queen was more into the background!
The biggest change, and the most welcome from the original is the bullied girl character (here she is Bo-mi). She was so insignificant in the original series that I did not even remember her by the end of the series! But in this Korean version, she was like only second to the main girl, Ha-na. Her part in this version was like 900% more than she had in the original! She is so much important that were this a slightly adult cast, she would be one of the two partners for the heroine! Actually, she won by a mile if there was a chase going on between the boy and her.
Speaking of the boy, if you remember in the Japanese version, one could not help but ship him with Mirai’s character. He was like the second after her in character importance. Here though, Korean was like, to hell with that, and they not only made him less significant but they made the least expected girl the alpha partner choice for the heroine, Ha-na. Let’s be honest, if any of us were in charge of a reboot we would all have chosen the intelligent girl played by Sae-ron in this Korean version (was played by Fukuda Mayuko in the Japanese version). I actually almost shipped those two in the original version but the Yuki and Miirai won!
That’s another thing! The Queen and the main girl had a lot more chemistry in the Japanese version than in this one! I tell you Korean twisted things around just so they could give us the Ha-na/Bo-mi goodness and I for one hesitated only slightly because I wasn’t so sure about them being in Elementary, which was why I was more of a Yuki/Miirai shipper than a Mayuko/Miirai because Yuki! But then when I consulted the powers that be,
I was reminded that love doesn’t discriminate and neither should I so I shipped the life out of Ha-na and Bo-mi! But to tell you the truth, resistance would have been futile because these two, this ships shipped itself! Every other episode you would get a moment between the two! Of course you would have to sit through Bo-mi’s character development since she started out as a villain but then eventually turned over to the good side so far that she was the favorite partner for our heroine!
Because Bo-mi has got her sights on you!
This scene you all, this frikkin scene! Just think of any couple of your liking and apply the happenings of this scene to them and I can assure you, you will get a heart attack! Actually even before this hand holding, Ha-na all but confessed her feelings to Bo-mi in order to turn her from the dark side but she achieved much more than that! Remember that scene in the original Japanese series in class when the Queen all but crushed the boy and Miirai had to sweet-talk him to the point of it turning out like a confession? Well, this was like that, actually Ha-na did the exact same scene to the boy in this version so that should tell you all you need to know! Not even Bella treated her Vamp and Wolf this equally! Except this time you will have no choice but to root for Bo-mi because she is just so awesome and Ha-na was more in her corner than she was in the boys with glaring evidence! After that confession they then sat on this bench and Ha-na went and did the thing!
Hands, they are my kryptonite!
So Bo-mi is really good at drawing cartons and here she was talking about drawing a cartoon about Seo-hyeon (Sae-ron’s character) and won’t you look at the look Bo-mi gives Seo-hyeon!! Actually in the Japanese version, Bo-mi’s equal was really into Seo-hyeon’s equal to the point of stalking her but that version never explored them in detail. Here this was like a shout out to the original version of Bo-mi’s character but other than this, Bo-mi was all for Ha-na!
Ha-na, you have no idea!
Bruh, that’s why this time around you lost the heroine to Bo-mi!
I swear to you ever since Bo-mi joined was rescued from the dark side, Ha-na and her were inseparable!
Look at that! All it takes is Bo-mi saying one liners and Ha-na loses her glum face!
In this scene, the boys were breaking out in a fight! Look at that, Ha-na is all ready to save her love, despite the fact that Bo-mi is the guy in this relationship. Seriously, You will never see Bo-mi with anything but pants in this series once she and Ha-na become a thing!
Inseparable! You will never see Bo-mi in a skirt and dear Lord, everyone is shipping this!
Bo-mi meets the parents! And forget about others shipping this…
~
This scene, Bo-mi just about established herself as Ha-na’s protector! The boy was getting too close to Ha-na and Bo-mi was having none of that! Seo-hyeon’s reaction was priceless! Bo-mi sat next to Ha-na to make sure no more funny business was to be had from the boy!
As you can see Bo-mi took the role of husbando seriously since then and Ha-na was all but happy to take the role of waifu!
So, as I said this version really went out of its way for Bo-mi’s character and her life was focused on in much detail. We find out that she only lives with her mother and they are in so much debt that they run away from the sharks every other day. One day it gets too bad that they can’t go back to their home. Bo-mi gets into trouble but since her mother was in hiding she was taken in by Ha-na’s parents until the issues were sorted!
That’s right, they hadn’t been living together until now! From now on they are living under the same roof!! God help us all!
I said ‘God Help Us’! And still no skirts for Bo-mi! And is it just me or is she turning more boyish by every other episode!!!
I actually approve of this! Bo-mi is enough to care care of Ha-na but there is no one for Seo-hyeon! Sure there is the other guy but for some reason he doesn’t click for me! I actually would rather ship him with glasses-boy! Those two have more chemistry together.
Ha-na and Bo-mi are window shopping and Ha-na finds some stuffed animals that she simply adores. She can’t seem to be able to decide between the two despite the fact that she had no plans to buy either. Bo-mi sees her curiosity and asks her which she prefers. Cut to outside and we see Bo-mi holding the pink one. Queue Ha-na thinking that Bo-mi had bought it for her boyfriend and she is like, a doll for my boyfriend? Then she gives the present to a stunned Ha-na and I am like…
Did I mention inseparable? Did I mention Bo-mi never wore skirts? Okay then…
Bo-mi getting jelly when Ha-na and the boy walk off in their own world of insects and she is not having none of that! Watch as she totally crashes that party like it#s nobody’s business! Favourite Girl!
I’m so done with these two I swear to you all!
~

Did I say no skirts for…Ah forget it!
~
In the end after Elementary, Ha-na and Seo-hyeon go to different Junior High Schools and Bo-mi and the Boy go to the same school! Ah Fate, you always so funny!
And that was that. Seriously this drama! It being Korean, even if the original story is Japanese, meant that the FEELs would be turned up to 11 and dear Readers, I was reduced to a toddler by the amounts of tears I shed during this drama! What is stranger is that this version is lighter than the original version. The Japanese version went into some pretty dark places that this one just was short of entering and yet, I cried so much in this Korean version I am even ashamed of myself! It is that good of a watch and I can’t recommend it enough!
Ha-na and Bo-mi were just perfect! If you are having trouble shipping due to their age just think of NanoFate! NanoFate are younger than these two and yet I am pretty sure that you ship them and these ships are both fictional (if it helps) so really there is no reason not to ship!
Sae-ron was of course cute as all hell and actually, I will leave all caps of her for ye to feast ur eyes as you wait fir that BD with me.

No, not yet. I have the 2013 School Series but I have yet to watch it. Why did I get it in the first place? Because Dani, duh.
I have a bad feeling about this 2015 series but i am getting it now! ‘Kill and let God sort’ and all that. So I am going to watch this. Very new it looks like, since the first episode was on the 27th of April so I guess I am on track?
Any way thanks for the heads up.

Hey there just want to share a new yuri drama ^^ Try searching for “The Rich Man’s Daughter”. It’s the Philippines 1st ever mainstream lesbian-themed drama. It has only aired 2 eps so far but it’s garnering so much attention, and they already have a solid fanbase. I’m sure you can find it with eng subs if you google it. It’s also based on a true story ^^ The leads have so much eye sex and some hand touching scenes which i know you love.

I always love reading your posts, they are so full of passion and energy. The way you describe the scenes are just awesome, the reader can just imagine what is happening just by reading every detail of your post. Makes them crave to find and buy the whole movie itself.
I actually agree with gekirena you should try watching “The Rich Man’s Daughter” six episodes in and there is sooooo much feels in it. Try watching till episode 6 and tell us how you feel about it.
Here’s a link to the english subs.
