Yoko-chan approves of this single so I guess I should too! But still, what’s with this title?! It seems to me that AKS says something different while it does another! Now I will forgive all who roll eyes at me worshipping the ground that Yukirin walks on because they would be right, but isn’t her being too nice, her being a dog that doesn’t eat other dogs for survival like everyone else in the entertainment industry what had AkiP so against her? For crying out loud, he even invaded her drama (Mielion Kashiwagi) to tell her this! Last SSK, or just before it, there was this prediction from those usual guys and one of them said how he changed from a Yukirin Oshii to a DD just because of this very reason!
So then what’s with all this ‘We won’t Fight’ business in an AKB single’s lyrics? It’s like all the beef management have against Yukirin don’t account for the rest of the girls! Put Yukirin in the back lines because she is too tall! That was a ways back excuse. But apparently it doesn’t count for making Ikumin Centre of Team 8, or Rena and Jurina cantering SKE singles since the dawn of time or Kojiharu centring Heart Ereki! Then after realising their bullshit they decide to make Yukirin centre, and we all know how that turned out, don’t we!
Anyway, the teasers for the upcoming single PVs have hit and I gotta say I kind of love this single, even though the only things I like about it are the A-side and Team 8’s PVs. I might of course come back to these after the single is released and I have gotten my hands on the full PV but for now, let’s have a closer at what we got via Oshimen!

And unless I blinked, multiple times, I didn’t get to see Rena cat-walk! Actually there wasn’t much of her. Oh well, at least she got to be with Yukirin again! And this time we got Yuihan to join the duo making those caps even more awesome! I really hope there is a dance version! I wanna see my YukiRena together, especially now that we will have to wait until the pre-Janken single to see Rena again in an AKB single!
Yukirin be breaking it down! Also I don’t understand the issue people have with the white/pink costumes! I actually love them the most out of everything, yes, even the angel ones! Might have to do with the fact though that Yukirin and pants are 100% fatal combination or maybe it’s that ponytail she is spotting! Makes her look so tiny Ahahaha! Also Nyawage!

Looking cool Sakura! But I have a question AKS, WTF is the logic behind taking the girls that are at the front of their respective groups and placing them at the front of AKB at the same damn time! Sakura and Jurina should have the same treatment that Sayanee got in this single! Sayanee can centre NMB singles like she has done since the dawn of time until the last two and even then she was at the front. Jurina is in the same boat! So is Sakura-tan! Why the hell isn’t Mayuki the ones flanking Paruru?
What’s to stop them from going full retard once again for the election single? Just watch as Yukirin wins SSK and gets the same treatment she got from Green Flash! Iswear to God if Yukirin wins and they shit on her this time there won’t sleeping dogs! It will be frikking wolves being shocked awake! There will be blood! Mark my words!

What about that Team 8 PV though! And what about that YuriKa! Kind of sad that Yuri has been forgotten about even before her Centre status lifted off with Team 8’s debut at Tokyo Dome 2014 but then all was forgiven when they gave me this pairing in this new song of theirs from the 40th single. That eye contact in the AKBINGO Live performance and then that PV! Also are these two such great candidates for a double centre or what! I love me some Hama/Serika but this duo trumps that! Especially when you consider how much Serika loves Yuri!
On the other hand, just look at how these two clash! Their height difference is over that perfect distance and as for chemistry? I am not familiar with Team 8 enough to make judgements but I from what I have seen these two aren’t that close too. Sure Nagisa is just too adorable for anyone to resist but she is also one of the fans’ favourite so there’s gotta be bad blood there. Well, at least the put on a show…

Why Nagi-chan all of a sudden? Well, that’s because I too have fallen into the trap that is her! She has gone and changed my Team 8 list over its head! I need to post an update of that BTW because there are other changes, like Ikumin falling further down that list, Yoko-chan climbing and there is another entry in the form of a certain cool beauty! Hint is that she has something in common with Nagi-chan! Ah but Yuriyan is still the undisputed champ!

Look at her studying Yokoyoko! She is like, ‘You can’t up-cool me yo!’ Reminds me of Patrick Bateman from ‘American Psycho’ as he studied a certain business card that made him so jealous she almost killed the guy because of it! I can just imagine the same awe going through Yoko-chan’s mind as she studies Yokoyoko’s posture LOL
And let’s not forget this perfect jail bait! To think that she is the youngest in the senbatsu for this song!! Hitomi keeps her 4th rank because I am not sure if it’s just me but I think there is a dance rivalry going on between her and Yoko-chan! Probably just me though.
Anyway, that’s that! Ikumin and Sugar-chan (Nanami) aren’t here because they fell off the 8-list sadly! They are still on the 10-list but not the 8-list! How things change in a course of a single year! Who knows though, things might change by the next Team 8 song and they might come back. Ikumin has just changed quite a bit to my liking from the girl I first got to know. Sugar-chan has not fallen because I love her less but because I found more girls I didn’t know before and loved them that much more. Wait for the updated list to learn who!

OK so still not really up to speed on Team 8 yet so can’t really say much about them, I do have a favorite now though, Tanikawa Hijiri, winning that dubious accolade so I guess there is at least some progress 😀
As for Bokutachi wa Tatakaunai, Well I still really like the song and the PV is pretty darn good too and you know I’m not really upset about Yuki’s screen time in this, partly because ever since seeing those first performance clips I kinda guessed it would be going that way (But yay for YukiRena being kept in the, with added Yui!!!) and also because when you look at it Yuki kinda did pretty well screen time wise in this PV compared to anyone outside the top 5 for this single and when this includes the like of Sasshi (another perennial “screw her over in MVs” girl) Mayu and Kojiharu you end up thinking that all in all it wasn’t an overly bad showing, especially when you compare it to the Green flash MV….. the less said about that the better…..
I too really like those pink and white outfits, I do think it’s a bit odd in the context of the MV but apart from that I think it’s one of the best outfits I’ve seen them in for a while, it’s a shame this was not like the live performance outfit, that would of been awesome!!
I too wonder about this over use of Sakura, they certainly are using the “Jurina” route with her now and that doesn’t sit well with me because I think that one big thing that has held Jurina back in stuff like election rankings is that people just react poorly to just having someone shoved in front of you all the time, it just tires you out, you get bored of them, you get fed up of seeing them all the time and honestly I’ll admit I’m almost sneaking towards the stage where this is beginning to happen to me with Sakura and I kinda don’t really want this to happen, what makes this weirder is that they are doing it in a much better way with Sayanee, sure she still has the kennin and is still a big part of AKB as well as leading NMB but the thing is she is a part of AKB and not forced in as the head and it makes a big difference I think.
Also AKB continues to shoot it’s AKB only ranks (who I sadly think they don’t overly care about right now, they will, when Takamina has already gone when Kojiharu and Yuki graduate and they are suddenly like….. shit…. seriously it will be like Team K but on a group level!) and it kinda annoys me that the sister group girls get the not in front of the “home grown” talents such as KojiMako, Mion, Sayaya and the others, in fact it’s kinda worse right now because AKB has some seriously great promising talent right now and I feel it’s getting wasted to pander somewhat to sister group members.
But that’s the AKS we live in I guess………

Where to begin, I should start from the bottom up I guess. About AKS turning into Teak K, you know, I think they are starting to realize it. Something has been happening to Yukirin this past year. The members are all over her, her outside work is booming, she said she is going to do some stuff this year she did not get to do last year which I think includes a solo in there. With Acchan and Yuko gone, AKS are starting to grasp for straws, really what other reason is there that they are being nicer to Yukirin these days, even if they do it half-assed (That single that shan’t be named!)!!!
I also completely agree with Sayanee! That’s how pushing is done! You don’t put girls that need pushing right in the front of the Gods! That’s just wrong! The best route is to have them as supporting line of defense around (and behind) the Gods so that when the Gods leave, it will be just natural for them to move up front! But this, this is just wrong! Just like Yukirin in NMB, ranks for exchange members shouldn’t matter! SayaMilky are NMB’s Queens, WMatsui are SKE’s queens, Sakuruppi/Sashisaku are HKT’s queens and Mayuki is AKB’s queen! The Queens should be front and center and the rest trailing, no questions asked! For new centers a la Paruru, Ryoha/Mei and MiruFuu, the Queens should be their right-hand men full stop! But this, this is bullshit!
I don’t think I stated the reasons why I love the A-side but Yukitai (Yukirin Time) is one of the reasons I love it! I found myself scratching my eyes trying to figure out if what I was seeing was real with all those dance shots of her or the fact that she was front with Nyanyan!
I also feel the same way about Sakura-tan! She is struggling to stay as one of my 5 Kamis of the 48G (Now with Yuriyan joining the squad) and it is all because of what you said! I am getting sick of seeing her! If they had just moved her to Centre of HKT then that would have been just fine after all, that’s what all HKT fans were wishing for especially now that they got their dream of have Sakuruppi as the centers for the latest single!
But having her not only center an AKB single, then be a supporting center for yet another AKB single, and at the same time be one of the double centers of the HKT single is just a No, No! It’s like eating too much of something that no matter how much you love it, you will eventually get sick of it!
Actually this is the very reason why Ikumin fell off the 8-list! She is everywhere and kind of getting full of herself in the process! I wonder what it is about it though, that makes us love a girl less the more they give us her! I don’t remember Acchan having this effect, indeed, she was the one true center!

First, a small transliteration error to point out: the single’s title is Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai. Which is about hesitance more than ‘not fighting’. Now that’s out of my system, I liked the single, the cinematics are certainly awesome. Yukirin got the most climatic scene, the scream and charge! Also if you bother to look, she was the only one that got stabbed during her fight. The others were just thrown, but Yukirin got a what would usually be a severe and fatal wound!
I think Paruru was the right choice for lead in this single, she wasn’t an eyesore nor an excruciating pain to watch. I think the term ACE, so much used, is a malapropism! An ace is the best overall performer of a team. Not necessary the most popular individual, but the best in terms of performance. In that sense the person in lead position isn’t by default an ace.
But isn’t the situation very similar to 2011, Yukirin having a surge in momentum, protagonism growing, etc…? I do. But this time around there is no barrier to stop her. Acchan and Yuko both were high standard performers with goal oriented minds, personality wise they couldn’t be more different but like Yukirin, they were above the freight. We’ll see how things go.
In sum, I like the new single, the PV is awesome, Yukirin is as always spectacular! And I’m always happy and excited for any nyanwage appearance!

So what you are saying is that the title means ‘We won’t be hesitant’? That’s strange but really, you are the fluent speaker of us so I will take your word for it.
Also it seems you think like Yukirin herself about Paruru. I read somewhere that she thought Paruru would make a great Centre during the PV unveiling event (Even though she had to add some blackness to it saying Paruru should smile more LOL).
This time the PV did indeed look much better than usual. But I guess it’s thanks to the A-list director, eh! Too bad this quality is gonna be decimated when they put it on DVD just like only AKS can.
Anyway Yukirin is just slaying these days! And is it just me or does she look even more happy than usual despite the increase in work which should make her tired instead!? But really, that is the mystery about her and why we are attracted to her, isn’t it? Always twisting fate in her favour. And she was supposed to be the unluckiest member this year/ Um yeah…

A literal translation is indeed We will not fight, but since Aki-P used takawanai, then you can contextualize it into We don’t want to fight. Which is what the lyrics seem to suggest, from what I hear.
Indeed, I think Paruru is a capable centre figure. She isn’t stealing camera time nor imposing her presence above the rest, something Mayuyu, albeit unconsciously, does. Sakura and Jurina seem also to have a desperate need for attention. Paruru is just, well, Paruru. In Eien Pressure, I thought she did great and in this single, I must say, she’s phenomenal. Her expressions and aura really fit the song. I can firmly say I support Paruru as Acchan’s replacement!
Indeed this time the director choice, I applaud, he has been fantastic with this PV, One of my favourite so far.
Yukirin is a yokai — well sort-of — her mysterious nature and charisma are what attracted us indeed.

I totally agree about Yukirin (I might of even mentioned it to you, I can’t honestly remember) it’s been noticeable that she seems to be around more of these “side projects” that AKB do (commercials, appearances and stuff like that game promotion she has just started with Paruru and Mayu) I swear she’s been in more this year already then like the last few years combined and yes you are right, a lot of it is because suddenly options are short and Yuki is THE option!!
I guess this ties in to what you said about promotion behind the Queens and AKB not really having that, I mean they scraped through after Yuko, Acchan, Mariko et al but You wonder who the hell will step up next, not in terms of talent (because they really are not short of that) but in terms of exposure, It should be the Sakura’s and the Mions and that Sayaya’s who are being groomed to take over from the Mayus and Yukirins and the Souchans but they have kind of either pushed them too quickly in a panic (because they didn’t do it early enough first time) or have not pushed them enough!!
Yukitai?! Is that a thing? ……. If not we should so make it something!! 😀 Seriously though if this MV gives us a possible glimpse of what Yuki’s future might be in MVs going forward (outside of elections) then, honestly, I would be pretty happy with it, this MV almost showed us the role Yuki should of had for years before this, hopefully they carry this forward past the elections…..
I wonder if we were always OK with Acchan always being there is that she was to begin with, like it was an accepted fact that we would see that much of her so our minds were able to process it accordingly, everyone else (bar Yuko too I guess) wmoved into that position so you are not always that used to seeing so much of them so when you do see Acchan amounts of them you are not used to it (unlike you were with Acchan) and so you begin to think that you are seeing to much of them now, that’s how I think about it anyway*
*obviously Yuki being a God among mere mortals is exempt from this rule, that and the fact that you can never, under any circumstances, get enough Yukirin!!

You know I think that the reason Acchan worked so well was that she was the first! Not to mention Acchan was already known to the world prior to entering AKB. I remember I actually first saw her before I even got to know AKB! It was in a movie she starred in with none other than Narumi Riko. It was title Ashita no Watashi, I believe! But even without that, she was the first! They could have picked Miichan as the Ace and she would have turned into Acchan, had they promoted her as they did Acchan after that.
Since then the dominos were already in place! If Acchan fell off, it was natural that Yuko be the next Ace, then Yukirin, then (Sashiko back before she bit the dust) then Mayu then Jurina etc, etc. They should have followed natural selection after the first time but they decided to play gods again after their 7 days were up! Look where that has gotten them!
Adding onto the promotion thing, another reason I believe that they should have stuck to the support push is that the young ones can learn from their seasoned senpais by watching them, supporting them, I mean look at Yukirin! The Kouhais are lining up behind her despite not even being an Ace! Look how far Sayaya is climbing? You read about girls even from the sister groups learning from watching her solo DVDs! In Shanghai of all places she beat the likes of AtsuYuko despite being on the n-travel list for members! A member like her needs to be where other members can see her, watch from her, just like Souchan said, you will take something from Yukirin just by watching her! And yet she is always lost in the sea behind!

Oh yeah, the Yukitai is actually already a thing though used by the Japanese fans in reference to something completely different. You know her radio show called Yukirin Time? That’s the short version of it! ‘It’s time for Yukitai’ or ‘Yukitai is about to start’. But I figured that it also works in context of her time in PVs especially given how brief it is for someone of her status! ^^

It wouldn’t have worked the same way with Miichan or any other 1rst generation member. Acchan was just brilliant as centre. She could easily dissipate in the background, and suddenly reappear as shining as before. The other candidates for her position, well most of them are either visible or not. That’s why I always supported a logical line of succession based on skill and leadership more than any other factor!
Yukirin is definitely a role model for any up-and-coming entertainer, and even when she leaves, members will still take something from watching her from afar. Sasshi, she’s a case, specially since her scandal, she’s more a business person than an actual luminary.
I do reckon, those girls whom taken close attention of Yukirin like Sayaya or Tatsumaki, will have a better basis to progress upon. (Names came randomly).
