So, apparently season three of Hormones began just as soon as season 2 ended and it somehow skipped by me until now! Worst still is the fact that this season is nothing like the other two in that we are into horror territory this time around! I love horror as you know so my shame just got multiplied just by that fact! Even worse still, Little Sister turned gay without my knowledge!!! How could I have missed this until now?!
Sorry, I kid, I kid! This is a whole different series but really, it’s like every single major character in Hormones is in this one too! Yes, even our beloved Dao is in this series. In fact she was the top batter in episode one! Seriously I was like, ‘I know you!’ every other episode because every one from Hormones is in this series! Just think of all the characters in Buffy being taken and cast for Pretty Little Liars! That’s how weird this thing is to me!
As the title says, these are all stand-alone stories with different concepts and a different character from Hormones and while all episodes are good in their own, and Dao was just too cute in the pilot episode with her meganekko look…
It’s the episodes 8 and 9 that rocked my world!
Before I continue though, quick shout out to the soul of KudaLakorn for always delivering us the most wanted subs!
Episode 8 is the one episode that made me go back and re-watch the whole series from episode 01, this time paying complete attention where I skipped through them on the first watch simply because it gave me the GAY! When you see a Tomboy character on Thai shows, you know it is serious business and this is the episode that first gave us our true ship in Aom and Mind!
Despite their looks, Aom’s height and Mind’s sensitivity, these two are seniors and as such they have a past! What sends my bells off is the way Aom is super protective of Mind from the very beginning! I was grinning my face off when she went Rocky on that guy for putting Mind into a shock with his ghost prank! Finally, a girl that just doesn’t look the walk but walks the walk!
And then there was the way she was like Mind’s own personal bodyguard, protecting her from all the evil in the world! Sure it came of as possessive at times and she was kind of scary when it came to Mind but Aom wasn’t that bad a girl! She wasn’t on the level that might get you hate her and think that she doesn’t deserve Mind! In fact she would not have acted during that time in the past if it weren’t for Mind. She was already close to Mind way back then so there was no need for her to have ill-will due to jealousy towards Deedee. Moreover, those two were too strong a rivalry to connect like that.
Speaking of DeeDee, their relationship (her and Mind I mean) was very suspicious! I mean look at that awesome facebook gallery (my kind of facebook!) and who uses the same stall at the same time?!! Not even girls in Japan use the same stall! Not even! Not only that they even wrote their names on the walls of said toilet! Though Aom took care of that side of things!
And so I felt this episode was kind of weak because Aom and Mind did not mean to kill DeeDee back then. And Aom though filmed her, she did not send video to everyone. She only sent it to Mind so DeeDee’s fate was in Mind’s hands and she should have been the one to blame since she is the one who spread the video around the school! So I feel that the story was weak in that regard! The reason for revenge didn’t have enough substance! And also even if I wasn’t the guy’s best pal or anything, the ghost turning to him (and thus killing him too) did not make any sense! Somehow Aom, the one responsible survived this!
Actually we never know and I am not out looking for an explanation of what happens afterwards because Aom is dead and Mind’s reaction to her death, or lack thereof left me completely flabbergasted! I blame the writers/Directors for this one though! Someone just died, give us the appropriate reaction darn it! Also Aom did not deserve to die! At the very least hospital her and show us how Mind handles her confession or something! if anyone was going to die, then kill off the guy or even Mind herself!
Man, good yuri is so hard to come by. But they tried! Lots of points just for that alone! And they did kind of make up for it with the episode that followed!
I loved this scene
Oh ho? I spy interest
Lies! but delicious lies!
Elevators, I love elevators!
Um, I dunno Palm, it’s frikking middle of the night!
Interest level: Over 9000!
Seriously Bee, seriously?!! Well, you just struck out!
The interest force in this episode is…
Darn it all Palm!
Refrained from making a joke because I would go all the way to No.3
Can I die like this pls, God?
Episode 9 of ThirTEEN Terrors is the best episode of any horror TV show I have ever seen! The story, the execution…perfect! I am willing to call bull on anyone who dares claim they knew what we were in for before the twist actually happened! Total bull! Sure some scenes make you speculate but I am calling it on good cause, my experience being solid evidence, that no one saw that coming!
I personally do have a reason why I might have missed the puzzle despite all the clues! From the very beginning, all the way back to the preview for this episode in episode 8, my mind was already wrapped around Bee/Palm and so all my concentration was poured into the two’s relationship as the episode progressed and gave little to what might have been going on under the skin! That might have been why I missed the twist!
But even if I was paying attention I doubt I would have figured it out! Our minds were already deceived from the get go about the haunted mannequins (that opening sequence in the bathroom was frikkin scary!!) so even if I had come up with something, it would have been mannequin related and thus completely wrong! There was no Mannequin ghosts, in fact there was no ghosts of any kind, or the supernatural actually!
The sings were there. Bee’s 180 moment in her apartment as she crushed that Mannequin’s skull sent all the alarm bells off in my mind but I just could not place it. In fact I couldn’t think of anything at all because her change in behaviour was just too sudden and drastic for me to make any sense of it! Then there was the other fact that the only ghost phenomena we see is from the girls telling stories and not something actually happening. Apart from the stories, the only other way we saw them was through Bee’s dreaming! I should have suspected something at all these signs but I did not!
I was too busy shipping Palm and Bee to care about anything else! And this is where I felt like crying because there was so much potential, so much that could have been grown from this story if it had been longer! At the beginning of the episode, Bee and Palm are still strangers as Bee had just transferred to their school. And yet, Palm was instantly drawn to Bee and she in turn curious about Palm, and her motives.
Palm is a bully (sadly) and I was actually happy to see that she was changing as the episode progressed and I thought it was because of Bee! She seemed to grow really fond of Bee and at one point it seemed like she was ready to give up her previous life so she could be with Bee (and protect her as par her vows) and yet this was all a farce! Palm hadn’t changed at al, in fact they made her out to be even worse later on as we see her sacrifice one of her “friends” just so she could get away!
Yeah, good plan Palm, run away from someone who just jumped up three floors and pierced a hole through your friend with her bare hand like she was made out of tinfoil!
That’s right folks, I am talking about Bee! Palm her goons’ prank to scare Bee goes too far when Bee falls three stories and breaks her neck! And she had risked her self to go and save you Palm, seriously!
Any way, one of the friends goes down to check on her and ye, she is very dead! But as this friend turns around to call the police and while the other two watch on from the third floor, Bee’s body stands up and she re-aligns her neck like she was stretching it or something! Palm shouts out at her oblivious friend who turns around and…is that green blood?! Seriously people, you couldn’t even come up with something red?! Paint? Ketchup? Cow blood? Need more options other than green goo?! Seriously…
At least that is what I thought during my first watch as I was as clueless as anyone else should have been! Said friend pees herself on the spot when she sees Bee standing up as right as rain when she shouldn’t have been and I held my tongue because I am sure if it had been me, I wouldn’t have stopped at No.1! Forget No.2, I would have gone all the way to 3! Yes, 3! Bee was darn scary in this scene, especially when she said friend finally got her wits back and turned to run only Bee like, literally, teleported in front of her and snapped her neck with such precision and horror that The Man of Steel would have cried in shame!
Actually bee did not teleport, she just had BLACK-san’s speed, which we see better in the following scene as she runs after Palm and her other friend who were on the third floor and yet they did not make it 50 meters before Bee was right in front of them! I am telling you this was one scary scene! You just knew there would be no survivors! You know those movies, literally any other movie where the villain takes their sweet time killing people and in the process getting swatted? well not here, no Cherie! Bee was killing like killing is supposed to be done!
But just before she is about to kill Palm off, she shows the first emotion I see on her face since the episode began. She is crying! She cries because of what she was about to do. So while Palm might have not actually cared as much for Bee to the point of changing her ways, Bee did come to care for Palm and we see it here in her eyes as she looks at Palm and in those eyes i knew Palm wasn’t going to survive this! Well, actually, I didn’t on the first watch because Palm was the one on the cover and she was supposed to live, right? Apparently I forgot about the very first episode, Dao, episode, where she died in the end! I swear to you the gay subtext in this episode played with my mind, actually the whole episode played with my mind like a lego box!
Bee’s feelings for Palm are so strong that she finally suffers the villain cliché and stalls long enough for Palm to run away from her. Seriously, after what we had seen Bee do, Palm managed to run all the way to the outside of the school and into the streets without bee catching her!!! Poor Bee, she definitely had it bad! You know, I would have it in goof faith that maybe, just maybe Palm would have survived had she not run into their teacher, who turned out one of Bee’s…associates. I think that she is her superior and that Bee cannot disobey her orders which is why she wouldn’t’ have let Palm off the hook. Not that Palm helped her own case that much!
The episode ends in the music room where the rumoured Mannequin resides and we see Bee looking at it in great sadness. I really felt for bee here. The camera pans as she turns to leave and now we see that there is not one but four Mannequins. No secret as to what the mannequins represent now, is there? Especially the other three! No, there is no ghosts. The Mannequins are not haunted!
There is Aliens!
That’s right, Bee and the teacher were aliens! The green blood was green because..Aliens! Bee was acting peculiar because she was not human and was simply assimilating human behaviour. That scene in her apartment with the statue was her actually just physically trying to see if there was a ghost in the mannequin. The teacher’s seemingly disregard of her students skipping class is also no longer a mystery. Bee’s apartment looks a like lab because..etc, etc..
So yeah, bee was an alien which totally puts a whole new spin on this series as a whole! We are not into the science fiction and not the supernatural which I guess is one of the reasons why this episode was just too good for me! It might also explain why I did not anticipate that twists at all! I mean seriously, everyone was awaiting a ghost of the mannequin to manifest itself and BAM! Aliens!
But better yet is the fact that Bee was affected by Palm and actually ended up being almost human than she was at the beginning of the episode. She has gained emotions and while this is a BAD END, I am actually really touched by this and it doesn’t take away the pleasure in shipping in any way!
I do not think that they turned the girls into mannequins but rather they only use real mannequins as symbolism for their inexistence. So, what if Palm is actually still alive and only imprisoned in some secret tube somewhere? Maybe Bee will meet her sometime in the future when their mission whatever it is is over, and then rebel and rescue Palm!
God, Thailand, see what you do to me?! Seriously though, you should release a feature length movie about this episode! There was a lot of material screened over. I want a deeper delve into Bee and Palm’s relationship growth. There was obviously something going on between the two that was not explored further due to time constraints! Palm’s attraction to Bee needs explaining so is how Bee came to care so much for Palm that she would manage to release that much emotion at the prospect of killing Palm!
Despite the BD END, this episode was the best hands down, for me! It felt like it was 20min long instead of 50. It was that good! I am shipping Bee and Palm like one of them was not dead but really, with pics like this on their social sites, how can I resist…
