Okay guys, a question first of all;
Is it really Yasusu that writes both Nogizaka and AKBG songs? Because it seems to me like the quality of Nogizaka is leaps above that of the 48 Family! Seriously, that track record for Nogizaka is frightening! All those awesome songs they have released on every single so far demands a deeper look into the matter! I don’t think there has been a Nogizaka single that has been criticised so far and not because the group is not at the 48G level and thus attracts less attention but because their songs are so good! Every single has had at least one song that hit right home!
But that’s not all, for in addition to great songs, Nogizaka give them some of the best PVs around! I am really beginning to question the validity of Yasusu being the sole writer of all these songs! if that’s the case then does that mean he drafts songs and gives the best one to NGZ?
Any way that aside, Finally got around to enjoying Ikuchan’s single in all its loveliness and this one PV caught my complete attention. The main girls in it are 1st Gens Itou Marika, Asuka and Inoue Sayuri. by the way, her name is like this in Japanese: 井上小百合. Yeah, those last two characters caught my attention alright! That’s the way we write yuri in Japanese. And by that I mean the YURI! So how can I resist the ship?
It’s so easy coming up with a fic based on this PV that it’s almost cheating actually writing it! The real themes in the PV were friendship (Sayunyan/Marika) and rivalry (Asuka/Marika) but that is only if you are watching it with normal vision! That was so 2007 and so boring! Now I watch everything with my goggles on so here’s what I saw while watching this.
As we saw the PV opens on graduation day with Sayuri in the drama club room (I guess) and there she is reminded of that one time as the club was preparing for a performance. And so we are taken back to that time and this is where the PV spends the rest of its time.
There we are suddenly dumped into the already sulky life of one Itou Marika. She doesn’t look happy at all but her good friend Sayuri makes it almost her mission to make Itou happy. But what could be ailing Marika so? She seemed like an all-rounder and gifted the way she was helping everyone so it wasn’t about her inability for the play. So what was up with her?
Whatever the answer is, it has something to do with one Saitou Asuka. It seems like Marika can’t take her eyes off of her. Why is she so taken with this girl? But it’s not just her. Asuka too seems to have a certain interest in Marika though for her it’s more on the lines of what does Marika want with me kind of curious. She knows Marika is watching her for reasons un-known.
Needless to say, I almost tasted the tension in that one scene where Marika was helping Asuka with her costume. It almost seemed like Asuka was about to say something. Probably come out and ask Marika what she wanted but then her look changed into one that shan’t be named. Could it be that these two actually have the same feelings and yet don’t even realize it?
Any way things seem to get worse for Marika. She can’t even get her lines straight. Someone who should have aced more lines than anyone can’t seem to get that one line she had to say? Something was definitely afoot. What she did not know was the Asuka was actually watching her in the shadows. These two are stalking each other without even knowing it!
Love!
A noise attracts Marika’s attention and just as I thought Asuka had grown the balls to approach Marika and comfort her…
it’s best friend Sayuri who shows up in the nick of time as always as if her body is attuned to Marika’s negative feelings! Seriously, not even Superman is that responsive to Lois’ predicaments! And like usual she manages to put a smile back on Marika’s face like she was a magical fairy or something.
More like best friend secretly in love with said friend!
Have you ever see such a depressed Angel?
During the final rehearsals, Asuka, who is playing the lead role, is also having a lot of things on her mind and she keeps messing up. The others are not too happy with her so she runs off. Marika is chosen to replace her which begins to shed a new light on everything. At first Marika seems very eager and happy to take the role. It was her chance! it seems like she really wanted to have that lead role but instead had ended up as back-up. She seems happy at first but then remembers how happy Asuka had looked and how excited she had been for the role and how hard she had worked to get the lines and then Marika doesn’t feel like it’s worth it all. So she too runs off but only to go after Asuka.
She finds her in the classroom and the two finally talk things out! Asuka shares that she knows how much Marika wanted to be the lead and that she deserves it more than anyone but Marika denies everything and says that her problems are something completely different. She manages to convince Asuka and hand in hand they return to the stage and things proceed as hoped.
Yuri, I mean Sayuri seemed pretty happy and proud of her friend and the hard choice she had to make. Marika seemed happy too at first but it was a hard sacrifice and a lost chance.
Which brings us to the rooftop scene where Marika finally breaks down but as usual, her fairy Sayuri is there to comfort her as she cries and cries all her regrets out and lets the wind curry them to the ether!
This is where the PV takes us back to the current time on graduation day but we don’t see Marika which makes me wonder. Did she transfer schools? Was she really so desperate for that role because it was her last time before she left? Or was she just chilling with Asuka now, having finally confessed and they are an item now, leaving Sayuri as the one with regrets? Are we going to get a sequel where Sayuri finally cracks and decide to come out to Marika and thus complicating Marika’s life because now she has to deal with Sayuri’s feelings as well?
Oh the drama!
Any way, that’s what went through my mind as I watched this PV. Some parts are real other not so much so I hope you do not think this is what actually happened. As I mentioned, this is about friendship and rivalry (or in the case of Marika, regret), period
Doesn’t mean though that it wasn’t awesome. I think I shed a tear or two because the song and the PV hit me right where it hurts.
see, told you it was easy coming up with a fic about this?

I didn’t want to comment here because of lack of interest, but your ads are getting… more aggressive…

What?! This is madness! We need to do something about this! Fight fire with fire I say. And by that of course I mean TO SHIP EVERYTHING!

BTW, I was about to post about the other three PVs which are Ikuchan centred BTW, but I guess shouldn’t?

Hey, dude…
What a great pv summary!
By the way, could you translate each of their sayings in the pv for me?

Sorry Mizukage, but I am not that good at Japanese. To me, it’s more like intuition and only happens when there is a great dose of yuri. Yeah, even I am not sure how my yuri powers work

Oh, it’s okay…
I have found a subtitle for this pv yesterday…..
