Ikenie no Jirenma 生贄のジレンマ

A Taketomi Seika movie? Sign me up! And with that, when I saw a trailer for this movie that teased at something as simple as two girls holding hands (to others it is nothing but not to yours truly) I was already sold on watching this movie!

Simply put, this movie is another death game, school horror type of movie. Third years of a certain school are called back to their school for one last time but what awaits them is not a goodbye party but rather the game of death. The rules? No one can leave the school grounds, whoever does, dies. Every given time they must sacrifice someone or by the end of that time, they all die (As one class found out)! The only other way to survive is to jump into the bottomless pit that suddenly appeared out of no where in the courtyard. Needless to say, chaos ensues until bodies start to drop and then the chaos escalates!

This movie is labelled as 80minute long, well it is not! More like 3x80mins. as in fact it is a three-part movie a la Love Exposure. And just as all great things, the best part part is in the last act where we are hit with a twist that this specific class’s Rep is actually gay. More surprise was the fact that it was actually seen through and that it was real, not fake weak love that is usually shattered in the wake of disaster like one’s life hanging in the balance, which this movie was all about. This Prez was Yumi, played by Yamamoto Hikaru who actually was also in My Rainy Days, which we know too to have yuri in it (though spoiler warning for My Rainy Days : BAD END).

No BAD ENDs for our lesbians this time around, Na ah! But sadly the girl Yumi has a crush on isn’t Seika’s character. A shame if you ask me. So then why am I mentioning her? There is a good reason other than the fact that I simply love her, just because of that doesn’t mean you can get mentioned here so here is the reason…

Um…Dear Seika, that’s not how CardioPulmonary Resuscitation works! It is how it should work! Thank you very much, for, the old ways are in the process of being revised as we speak! You my girl, are going into the World Discovery Museum! Seriously, I was greatly disturbed by the way I absolutely found that kiss of Life hot!

Yeah, she was trying to revive one of the fallen class’s students next door theirs with the help of that guy that starred alongside Annin in Ao Oni. Speaking of that movie, that thing was frikkin scary! And here  thought Japan was running out of idea! Thank the Lord Anin was not food for it!

Any way, this is why I am mentioning Seika and even though she was like the main Heroine, she wouldn’t have cut it had it not been for this scene. So then, back to our lovely couple…

 
 
 

 

 

 
 

 
 

Yes, this is the same scene and YES those three kisses happened in this same scene!

The short-haired girl is our Prez Yumi and her lover is Nozomi. Seriously even just looking at the caps they give off the feeling that Yumi is lying to Nozomi. I mean it’s not just me, right? You guys can also feel it? By this time also the were still in the closet which was why they were secretly meeting in the music room.Here Yumi explains the situation in which the two find themselves in. This was in the beginning of the third act which tries to focus more on Yumi  and at the same time the climax of the story. Not great for our girls but what we got was enough.

 

  

 

More than enough. My heart was transformed from being suspicious and un-feeling for her and Nozomi’s love to completely loving her as my favourite character (Topping Seika) and drooling at the their love. This was not very easy though as I found my heart bumping against either side especially when Yumi slipped Nozomi a pill through their nth kiss in the classroom! I didn’t know then what the pill was and I thought she had killed Nozomi to save herself even if she was crying about it. It wasn’t until later towards the end that I find out that the pills were only sleeping pills and she was thinking of sacrificing herself to save Nozomi.

 

GOOD END!

In the end though, most students survived (Those who had jumped into the pit to hell, or is it heaven in this case?) and as they walk off, Yumi and Nozomi hold hands and in fact they lead the whole group off telling us that they are now openly out to their classmates (and this is like real OMG!)

I don’t remember the last time I was happy about a horror movie’s ending. Oh wait, I do. Is it coincidence that that movie was also a Death Game movie or that it was a Seika movie? Hell Yes! Which is all that much better!

Any way, though this movie actually made no sense (Some students that were supposed to be dead came back to life and the main characters spent time on ways to beat the game only they were all useless in the end leaving you wondering why the spent the time trying to make those scenes important) I truly recommend this to the fans of this genre.

I mean come on, how often do we get GOOD ENDs, YURI GOOD ENDs in horror movies?! Not that often I will tell ya! So do go check this out when you find the chance.
