So, another trailer for Angelina’s MALEFICENT has hit the intranets and Good Lord, I am getting curiouser and curiouser! First off I have seen a lot of people saying that if they don’t get dragons they will will not give a tick. Well, safe to say their lack of belief has been put to rest, with this trailer.
As for me, my interests were piqued from the very go when that first teaser hit! And people, am I even more stocked for this movie after watching this trailer! First of all the way the trailer was broken down was really, really great and hope-filling as far as I am concerned.
In the very beginning, the screen shows the Text ‘You know the story’ then they proceed to show the evil side of Maleficent and what everyone knows her as – As the one that cursed Sleeping beauty at a young age to fall into a dead sleep at the age of sixteen. You see all that, with Angelina doing what she does best, looking to all the world like Evil incarnate totally living up to the title of evilest villain in the all of Disney.
But then as she turns in all her awesome evil glory with robes swishing, this new text comes up ‘Now find out the truth’ and then we are back to the good old scenes we know of the less evil-looking MALEFICENT getting curious about the curious Princess Aurola. More interestingly, the King this time comes off as the evil villain in this second part of the trailer which makes you really wonder how this story is going to go.
What I am more curios about though are very little things, well, the moments are little but the feelings these moments give me always stay with me. For example I am really curious as to how these two end up being so close. They will obviously spend a good deal of time together and Aurora will come to care a lot for MALEFICENT as we shall be seeing in a moment.
If you remember from the last trailer, that conversation where Aurora was thinking that MALEFICENT was afraid of her because she wasn’t coming out of hiding. When MALEFICENT stepped out, that scene right there is one of the things I am looking forward to. It had to be their first meeting, well, grown-up Aurora and MALEFICENT’s first meeting that is.
Then there is that conversation where Aurora asks why MALEFICENT does fly if she is also a fairy. She says that she had wings once but that they were taken from her. So what does that mean?
Does it mean that this scene where the dragon storms the castle and destroys everything already happened before the story begins? Does it mean that MALEFICENT being defeated by the knight (whom we saw too in this trailer) was in the past and MALEFICENT in the now is laying low and still wounded? Oh God, I hope so. Unlikely but I hope it is true. Also I would like to think that Aurora here…
Is looking up at MALEFICENT in her dragon form but I have a feeling it’s the fairies.
Then we have this scene that made my excitement halt for a beat. Either MALEFICENT has done something bad and Aurora has seen it or someone has told her about her curse and that MALEFICENT is the one who did it also spilled the beans of who MALEFICENT actually is.
This scene right here is the one I am most looking forward to for I have a feeling that it is the one that will be the deciding factor of the how the movie and their relationship, is going to end. When MALEFICENT says that yes, she is her, what will Aurora do? How will it affect MALEFICENT? I am dreading and yet at the same time very much looking forward to it.
For now though, I am having these theories floating in my mind as to what way the story will go. Will the King be the villain and MALEFICENT the hero who will have to regain her dragon strength to recue her? Will we have the normal story but with a twist in the end where Aurora saves MALEFICENT? I mean judging by how she is crying her eyes out at the prospect of the woman she had come so close to being MALEFICENT, there is no way she will just stand around while MALEFICENT gets skewered a la canon! Or maybe after all is said and done, Disney will cave in and we will have the normal story with the normal end? I have faith though. they must have learned something from Frozen’s success!
Any way the new trailer…
